Beno plays like Steve Nash Lite. Same controlled pace with the ability to find people once he drives in. It's almost scary when you watch him to see how similar he is.

Of course, right now he's nowhere near as good as Steve Nash. But with time, grooming and luck ... he could turn into a similar player.

The Spurs got another good one.

Nash didn't contribute heavily as a rookie with the Suns (10 mpg, 3.3 ppg, 2.1 apg) since he split minutes with guys named Kevin Johnson and Jason Kidd. He was over 40% on 3-pt shooting though, and he really improved his second year. He played both guard positions, a la KJ, as I remember it.

Udrih isn't as quick as Nash but he can pass as well as Steve could as a rookie and he's got confidence like Steve. He's not quite as trigger happy as Nash. Beno reminds me a lot of Kevin Pritchard when he was a senior at KU. Beno is better than Kevin was but there are similarities.

Hope so. Spurs would be set at point for the next 4 seasons. Also, this would free up Barry for the swingman rotation so the Spurs wouldn't be as thin there.

And...against smaller backcourts you could run Udrih and TP together with TP as the off guard.

More depth and flexibility if the Spurs finally have a Slovene who pans out.

Does Slovene come from the Middle English word "slovein"? I hope not.

    slov·en ( P ) Pronunciation Key (slvn)
    n.
One who is habitually careless in personal appearance or work.
[Middle English slovein, perhaps from Middle Flemish sloovin, a scold, gossip, from Middle Low German slôven, to dress carelessly; akin to Dutch sloof, untidy woman. See sleubh- in Indo-European Roots.]

I hope he could become as good as shooter.

With pop at the helm, definately become a better defender thats for damn sure.

From the midrange, I think he's close. I think he's just now getting used to the NBA three-pointer, so it'll take him some time. But he has good form and good confidence in his shot.

I wasn't too high on him coming into to preseason because I thought he was a wuss, but he's impressed me. He's fearless on offense, directs traffic and isn't bad on defense. He tries and has even drawn a few charges.

IF he stays healthy, the Spurs have another good one.
