so why is Diop missing from the Senegal squad? i was hoping to hear how Rasho match up with Diop.
SEN - "We take this victory but we must stay calm"
- Senegal coach Moustapha Gaye refused to get carried away by his side's last-minute victory over 2003 EuroBasket champions Lithuania and insisted there is still a lot of work to achieve before the FIBA World Championship in Japan.
Senegal lost to France 95-58 on Friday and then to China 57-53 on Saturday before edging a 75-74 win over top European side Lithuania on Sunday evening.
Behind for most of the clash, Gaye's men completed an action-packed return in the final quarter which saw them snatch victory in the last minute when Le Havre's Babacar Cisse converted a three-pointer.
Gaye told PA Sport: "I take this victory but we must stay calm, we are still at the start of our preparation.
"We managed to play better and better in this tournament and Lithuania were probably a little tired from their match against France, so we took advantage of that. But as a whole I noticed we improved our game.
"The most important thing is to be ready for the start of the FIBA World Championship and we are still far from it, in terms of our game and spirit."
Senegal, who booked their ticket to the prestigious compe ion despite being beaten by Angola in the FIBA Africa Championship final last summer, will be in Group D along with China, the United States, Slovenia, Italy and Puerto Rico and will kick start the compe ion on August 19 against Slovenia.
Despite his side`s performance Gaye will keep his feet on the ground and does not want to raise his ambitions ahead of the FIBA World Championship.
"I don't want to ask myself too many questions," he added.
"I try to keep the same line of conduct. In a compe ion like that we have not got yet the same experience as France or Lithuania."
Lithuania coach Antanas Sireika, meanwhile, tried to remain positive despite the defeat and added: "We played well in the first quarter and then we thought the game would be easy and we relaxed our efforts.
"It's good in a way to have lost a preparation match that way, and the one to France as well, because it will allow us not to make the same mistakes again in the future."
