Karr's DNA not a match

John Mark Karr's DNA is not a match with material found at the scene of the JonBenet Ramsey murder, according to KUSA-TV, 9 News.
Citing sources close to the investigation of Karr, Paula Woodward of 9News reported that tests run over the weekend by the Denver Police Department "conclusively" excluded Karr as the source of foreign DNA found with JonBenet's body.
Investigators have long surmised that saliva mixed with JonBenet's blood in her underpants was left by the killer. It has been identified publicly only as coming from a male outside the Ramsey family.
9News reported that as a result of the DNA tests, Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy will not formally file charges against Karr, who is scheduled to appear in court at 4:30 p.m. in Boulder the first appearance in a Colorado court for Karr, 41.
It is not clear whether Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy will announce the DNA results at a 4:30 p.m. hearing in Boulder the first appearance in a Colorado court for Karr, 41. But without DNA or other physical evidence -- the prosecution of Karr will be difficult for Lacy's office.
But from the beginning, the case against Karr was built not on physical evidence but on his own words.
Karr drew Lacy's attention through emails he sent over four years to University of Colorado journalism professor Michael Tracey. Sources close to the investigation have said Karr revealed details of the condition of JonBenet's body that should have been known only to the killer. It is not clear whether Lacy will release the evidence she had against Karr at this afternoon's hearing.
When Lacy announced Karr's arrest on Aug. 17, she seemed prepared for the possibility that he might not be a match to physical evidence at the scene of the Christmas night, 1996 murder.
"There are cir stances that can exist in any case which mandate an
arrest before an investigation is complete," Lacy said at that press conference. "The primary reason for that is public safety. A secondary reason is fear of flight. In
short, exigent cir stances can drive the timing of an arrest."
Karr was to begin work as a teacher in a Bangkok girls' school on the day of his arrest.
Problems in Lacy's case became apparent even before she held her Boulder press conference.
For starters, Karr's ex-wife told a San Francisco television station that she was certain Karr was with her and their three sons in Alabama on Christmas Day, 1996. That would likely make it impossible for him to have been in Boulder later that night to kill JonBenet.
His brother Nate produced a photograph from Christmas, 1996 showing Karr's three sons at a family gathering in Atlanta. The photo doesn't show Karr, but both Karr's brother, and father, Wexford, said they would remember if John had not been present.
Additionally, reporters could find no evidence that Karr had ever been to Boulder, beyond his own word. One witness who came forward to say he had seen Karr in a Boulder bus stop shortly after the murder once operated a website connected to the case, raising doubts in investigators' minds about his impartiality.
Finally, during a rambling press conference in Bangkok, Karr softly declared, "I was with JonBenet when she died," but insisted it was an accident, despite the fact that she was strangled and beaten to death. Karr, when pressed, refused to provide any details of the crime, or say how he got to Boulder.

Just when you think this case couldn't get any more bizarre.
Anybody fear that some wacko will go after this wacko regardless of the legal rulings?
I always knew he didn't do it, but it's still good they got this piece of off of the street for a little while. They should put him in some kind of pedophile house or some . He is a sick bas .
Gee, I wonder if this fruitloop will get another freebie business class ticket back to Thailand. Welcome to coach ... seat 52Q.
If that happens it just gets rid of two nut jobs. One in jail for killing the other. There is nothing wrong with that.
OMFG!
CNN's John Caferty
"Maybe Katherine Harris killed Jonbenet Ramsey."
He said this tounge-in-cheek after talking about Katherine Harris' quote recap and a kick back to the main show and a tease about the Karr news.
Katherine Harris has on only slightly less makeup than JonBenet.
I wonder if he knows anything about what really happened? Maybe O.J. did it?
Stupid media does it again! This was non-stop news on every news channel and they trotted out his ex-wife, ex-neighbors, and any other person who ever knew him. Boy, do they have egg on their face!
This guy is certifiable - I hope they find some reason to put him away - then the other inmates will take care of him!
Who the cares?
So the runaway bride is charged with a felony, but this bag goes free?
Mental note, if arrested in a foreign country, admit to killing Laci Peterson for a free first class flight back home.
Seeing as Scott Peterson was already convicted for that, I would say that would be tough to pull off.if arrested in a foreign country, admit to killing Laci Peterson for a free first class flight back home.
Well, if you said you killed Natallee Holloway you'd get a free trip to Aruba.
The voice that came out of the lady @ MSNBC sounded very male....And the voice from the Male Colorado legal expert was so effeminate it was down right creepy...As if this story is not creepy enough....I thought the stereo sound on my TV was cross patched or something....Nice going MSNBC!![]()
