i have byron leftwich as my starter which is no good. i was wondering if i should pick up simms and drop brees who i currently have as my backup.

I disagree that Leftwich is a bad choice. He's solid but not a gamebreaker. That's just my thought (as a minor league FootballJerk).

But Simms isn't the way to go this week...he's facing a really tough Baltimore defense. I would actually consider starting Brees against CLE's defense over Leftwich against Dallas.

I've got a strong feeling that Brees is going to have to throw the ball more than Simms to keep the Saints in games.

But I really wouldn't make that decision until you're sure Brees can throw the ball downfield with consistency and without pain. I'm a Brees fan and I have him in at least one of my money leagues, but I doubt the Saints will have as strong a running game (based on their O-Line) as the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay probably wants Simms to be more of a game manager than Brees will be asked to be.

So all in all, I don't think I really answered your question.
