Anyone (from Our Fourm) Going To This Game?
LAREDO, Texas Laredo's two-year-old arena hasn't had to do much promoting for the city's first N-B-A game in about two decades.
About three-fourths of the tickets for tomorrow's preseason game between the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs were sold back in June -- the first day they were available.
Only a few scattered seats remain unsold in the arena that seats about ten-thousand.
While the city is closer to San Antonio (150 miles versus 350 miles to Houston) and has a heavy Spurs fan base, the matchup is actually a home game for Houston.
Rockets spokesman Nelson Luis says it's a way of getting the sport out to the cities that don't typically see N-B-A basketball.
Spurs spokesman Tom James said team officials saw the game as a step toward expanding their presence -- especially south of the border.
