You might check with Fox & Hound and make the request ahead of time.
Guadalupe and 4th.
i dont have cable because im poor. i sure as dont have any nba package that would allow me to watch all spurs games.
does anyone know of a place in austin open to the public that is not only spurs-friendly, but will show ALL regular season spurs games on big tvs over other bull sporting events like baseball? cheap beers would be a plus, but not a necessity.

got a friend who works there and its closing down and moving up to the arboretum. it might be more accessible once its up there, but can you imagine how ish it would be to try to watch a west coast away game on a thursday or friday night in a bar that close to 6th? i hate ing undergrads too, and they litter that place
I think several fans from this board meet up at fast eddy's on 35. I prefer to go to RC fowlers on 620 though. They have about 20 large plasma screens set up all over the restraunt. Owner is really cool and waitresses are usually pretty nice with their service and looks.
It'll be nice to have a another sports bar here in the Arboretum. Legends is dragging their feet updating their TVs.
I saw about 30 games last season at the Double Dave's on Duval north of San Jac. Cheap beer and good pepperoni rolls. They have all the stations except for NBAtv, you just have to ask them to put it on. Make sure though, that you ask them before you buy food or drink.
Oh and I should add, they have one projection tv and one big flat screen, as well as many smaller sets.
It's been a year since I've moved from Austin. And I would always go to Legends b/c they had the projection screen and sound. But the food was awful and the beer prices were nothing special. But when pluckers finally provided sound to the projection screen. Burnet and 183 was where i'd go. With the cheep big beers and the food, I coudn't go wrong.
I'll have to check if Pluckers has the NBA package this season. I can't think of a more overpriced wing joint though. Luckily, they give us free wings whenever the Toros win, so that would mitigate things.
I like Wings-N-Things on North Lamar, in the Wal-Mart shopping center. Small, friendly wait staff, cheap (and good) wings, and beer. Plenty of Plasmas, plus you don't have to travel to downtown if you don't want too, which is good cause I live north.
Where on N Lamar is that?
Rhinos & Jocks on 183 and Anderson Mill. Small - unpretentious bar with 3 big ass tv's and nice service. Not always good for a big Spurs fanbase, though. People mainly got there to drink and eat wings. As I do neither, I don't know how the prices are. But the TV's are big and there's always a good seat.
yeah, they were overpriced on the wings. But I'd go more for the beer specials than anything.
I tried Sugar's Strip club once for their Steak supper. Hard to concentrate on the game though ,and I kind of lost my appe e what with the smell of ass and catfood.
I tried that place and didn't think the wings were very good (I'm a wing snob though from upstate NY). My favorite wing place (and a decent place to watch games) is Wings and More, located right across from there at I-35 and Howard Lane (heading northbound).
koris n house freeloader!!!
not to mention i heard that FOXSW in austin is going to be showing mavs games as well as spurs games, which is totally weak.
Don't tell sickdsm.
Ugh. I assume their NBA programming is a zero-sum game, and that for every Mavs game they add to their broadcasting schedule, means one less Spurs game they'll show. Did you hear anything about how many Mavs games they intend to add?
Bandwagoners.
This is so weird....
I am now a freshman at St. Edward's University, which is right on South Congress and is probably very close to some good sports bars. We have cable in our dorm room so I'm sure we get a lot of games, but if anyone has any good suggestions for bars that allow 18+ and are around the S. Congress/I-35 area, let me know.
It is going to be really weird going through my first basketball season in a new city.
it's going to suck...not having the hometown fans everywhere you go, not seeing the go spurs go banners everywhere, not having local media coverage. it sucks. it sucks even worse here in austin because there are tons of people from all around texas who love the rockets and mavs.
words of advice: rockets fans are cool until you start talking about '95. mavs fans are never cool under any cir stances, no matter what. find some friends from san antonio and stick with them exclusively from october to june.
It will be weird, but it won't be too bad. I lived in SA for 17 years and then moved to UT in 2001. You can still catch a ton of games. And yes, you'll run into alot of Mavs and Rockets fans...but also you'll make alot of friends among Spurs fans. And when you all go out in big groups to watch games and cheer your team, you won't feel much of a difference than when you were in SA. At least I didn't. I'm sure you'll put lots of Spurs crap up in your dorm/apartment just like I did, so I'm sure you'll feel right at home.
ha, thanks for the clarification.
Ironically, my roommate is a HUGE Mavs fan, though fortunately we share a mutual dislike for Mark Cuban, agreeing to the terms that "it's not what he does, but HOW he does it." His side of the dorm room is decorated with Mavs and Dirk posters. I have Spurs poster and the knowledge that the Spurs have three championships. The Mavs have none.
Staying true to myself, however, I have already begun to walk out on conversations upon hearing someone is a crying Mavs or Lakers fan. Some people just don't get it.
