raiders are done this weekend.
A&M 31
tech 24
Wow, what a great matchup between two incredibly average teams. I'll be glued to the tv in rapt anticipation.
Not.
...wow, what a great post. i'll nominate it for post of the year.
not.
Anyway, not every team can challenge for the national championship every year (except my Trojans, HAHA). but if you know anything about tech and A&M, you'll know that they hate each other and the game should be very exciting. either way, thanks for your insight!
Post of the year, you're really a giving type of guy-thanks! Be sure to update all of us after that game is over, please?
Tech looked pretty crummy against TCU a couple of weeks ago, but then again, the Horned Frogs are a top 20 squad. Against these mediocre Aggies, I expect about 450 yards of offense and a 35-17 win for Tech, even if the game is in College Station.
I think this will be an interesting game... and since I can't watch my 'Horns roll up SHS this weekend I may watch to see what Tech and aTm have. I'm looking forward to seeing the 'Horns play in Lubbock this year - the Raiders always get up for that game and play extremely hard in Lubbock. Might still be a semi-blowout, but it might also be somewhat close.
hmm, well the game is on ABC....you should check it out. btw, a team does not have to be in the top 25 for the game to be enticing. furthermore, both teams are much better than average. tech, i believe, is in the coaches poll top 25 and A&M is easily in the top 40 of teams in division 1. considering there are 119 teams in division 1 CFB, your assessment that both teams are average is.....wrong. tech is a "good" team and currently A&M is above average; we really don't know how good A&M is, yet.
but don't let me convince you, if i were you i would watch:
1. NBC purdue @ notre dame
2. CBS alabama @ florida
3. Fox Sports colorado @ missouri
...all far better games than the tech vs. A&M one. but wait a minute...in none of those games both teams are ranked, hmm, alabama has no chance against florida @ florida, colorado should lose @ missouri...the purdue @ notre dame game MIGHT be good. i think the second best, and maybe even the best, game at the time slot will be tech @ A&M.
^...................................zzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzz.........................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz z.................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz................. ......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............... .....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....................... ....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.................
Oh damn! You said something of significance? Something about tech and a&m being decent teams. Look, watching that game would be like sitting in the corner watching two 300lb chicks do a 69 on each other. While mildly entertaining, the impetus to throw up would be too much. But thanks for the snappy dialogue and insight into college football, it just makes me all warm and tingly all over!![]()
...its impossible to tell just how good A&M is. so they struggled against Army?...that means absolutely nothing as does the fact that A&M beat LLafayette by the same score LSU did. they won both games and are currently one of 19 teams still undefeated in division 1 CFB. am i saying they are a top 10, 15, or 20 team?....course not. but we will see how good they are....in about 4 days.
I wish aTm and Tech would play weak ass schedules every year so that UT gets a monster BCS boost when they beat an undefeated (over)ranked Tech and aTm team. Just like with Tech last year.
(i am going to answer your question as if your serious)
1. tech does play weak ass schedules every year and they do get overrated>>>you're happy here (though they played penn state & i think ohio state one year)
2. A&M has played brutal preseason schedules the last 17 years>>>you're wrong here
1989- LSU (7), @ Washington (were good then)
1990- @ LSU
1991- LSU, @ Tulsa (were good then)
1992- Stanford (20), @ LSU, Tulsa, @ Missouri
1993- LSU, Oklahoma (16)
1994- @ LSU, Oklahoma (15), Southern Miss
1995- LSU, @ Colorado (7)
1996- @ BYU (were good then)
1998- Florida State (2), @ Southern Miss
1997- (nobody)
1999- Southern Miss
2000- @ notre dame
2001- @ wyoming (pretty good that year)
2002- @ pittsburgh, virginia tech (7)
2003- Utah, @ Virginia Tech (8), Pittsburgh (17)
2004- @ Utah (19), Clemson (25)
2005- @ Clemson
...on the off-chance you were being humorous, you might want to check the facts before you go shooting your mouth off. A&M's preseason schedules deserve nothing but praise
over the recent year as they have not shied from tough compe ion. in fact i challenge you to find a team that has had a tougher preseason schedule the last 17 years (year in and year out). in an age when teams are scheduling 1AA opponents and teams in the lower half of division 1, when a team schedules someone in the top 3rd of division 1, let alone the top 25...they deserve praise. A&M has done that and then some.
while A&M has taken it easy this year (thank goodness, b/c we need some wins), it will be short lived. if you BOTHER to check next years schedule, A&M opens up @ MIAMI(FL) and then A&M gets them at home the year after. after that A&M has a home and home with MICHIGAN STATE.
...so, i say to you...if you were dogging our schedule, off. play ohio state another 5 years in a row and then we can talk.
if not, i apologize, kind sir.
Team A has beaten Rice, Tulane, Grambling, and Oklahoma State. Team B has beaten the Citadel, Louisiana - Lafayette, Army, and Louisiana Tech.
Which is a "top 40" team?
...well, with the exception of OSU... Rice, Tulane, and Grambling all suck harder than LL, Army, and LT, imo. and i don't think OSU is good, however, i'd say both Houston and A&M are top 40 teams at the moment.
btw, my dad went to Houston for Law School, so we were happily watching the updates of that game whilst watching A&M beat LT at Kyle field last saturday.
That's cool - I can respect that. I dunno if Cougar High is a top 40 team, but A&M will be in the top 25 if they get past Tech, at least in my opinion.
I'm not sold on Mizzou, either, so that at least to me looks winnable especially since the game's in College Station. Okie State, KU, and Baylor, though all road games, are eminently winnable. I would have never thought this before the season, but if A&M catches a couple of breaks they could be undefeated (and with W's over Tech and Mizzou, they'll be at least 15th to 18th) going into their bout with OU.
I think the Ags will fall once or twice in that stretch, but like I said, every one of those games is winnable. But wow, that's a brutal closing sked - OU/Nebraska/UT?
I'll call 8-4 for now, but if A&M manhandles Tech, they'll probably get past Nebraska - another home game. So maybe 9-3 and a seat at the lower five of the polls.

I never said they play a soft ass schedule, I said I wish they did every year to get an inflated ranking going into the UT game.
SIMMER DOWN NOW!!![]()
1. i agree, A&M will (imo, no doubt) be in the top 25 if they beat tech
2. i was stressing before the season started that A&M could have a very good year this year as all the tough games, except t.u., are in College Station
3. OU, Nebraska, and t.u. is crazy hard. the thing that keeps me confident is that A&M always plays OU hard, especially at home and the t.u. game has been close the last two years and this year A&M is better and t.u. is not as good...so anything is possible. though i think the hardest game to win, and call me crazy, will be nebraska
4. i predicted at the beginning of the year A&M would go 10-2 (a bit biased prehaps, lol) and that there was no way they would win less than 8 games. since then, Nebraska has really impressed me and OU looks like they, even without Bomar, are a pretty good team. so we'll see...
...all things having been discussed, A&M has a LONG way to go this year and are going to have to shore up their defense if they have any aspirations of beating any of the top three teams in OU, NEB, and t.u..
biased opinion unbiased opinion
ttech-win ttech-loss
@kansas-win @kansas-win
missouri-win missouri-win
@osu-win @osu-win
@baylor-win @baylor-win
ou-win ou-loss
nebraska-loss nebraska-loss
@t.u.-loss t.u.-loss
10-2 (feasible) 8-4 (very feasible)
...although, i really think A&M can win every single game and think/hope they will. there is a difference between being able too and actually doing it (many variables, lol). but as shown above, i just don't see how this team cannot be at least 8-4. go ahead and laugh t.u. fans...
btw, i will be sitting 50 yard line about 12th row in austin for the A&M v. t.u. game this year w/my sister as i did two years ago. you can look for me, i'll be the guy with the white long sleeve A&M shirt and backwards USC hat making life for the t.u. alumns a living as did when A&M was up at the half last time.![]()
I don't see how an aTm shirt and USC hat will make life a living for UT fans. UT owned both of those teams less than one year ago.
Chances are you would just make an ass of yourself.
hmm, i didn't realize a 3 point victory over USC and NEEDING a blocked punt to change momentum and beat my Aggs by 11 was "owning" but OK.
btw, i am not obnoxious nor do i yell at any t.u. fans at the game, just loud for my team. and, btw, i WAS making life for more than a few fans b/c they were like, "why don't you sit down." "if you don't sit down and settle down i am going to call the security guard." "what is your problem." etc, etc. basically all the insults and irritation was during the first half when A&M was winning. when t.u. took the lead in the second the PATHETIC t.u. fans said nothing to me.
...i will give one guy credit... he whispered in my ear, so the other people would not hear i'm sure, "some of these alumni are no fun just ignore them, oh yeah, and we're still going to win this game." i liked that guy. he was fun and understood that i was just proud of my team thus far.
anyway, if A&M plays well or wins, the fans in that section WILL let me get to them even though i am not even talking to nor challenging them, and thats b/c of a couple things i gather:
1. i am pulling for A&M
2. how could we let this Aggie sit here and get away with it
3. this Aggie has the nerve to sit here in austin, doesn't he know who texas university is?
hmm, go yourself t-sips. i'll be there to watch A&M march all over t.u.
Nice assessment. I hate fans who are all up tight and get pissed over nothing too - but every university has them. I like to sit around people who are cheering against us - makes things more interesting. I truly think aTm will be fortunate to keep this game within 20 pts, but we'll see what happens. Have fun at the game.
its also the big 12 game of the week.
Tech-Ags is always a good one.
