I'm not buying the Lakers that high. Maybe seventh, but certainly not fifth. I think Sacramento, New Orleans and a healthy Denver all have the potential finish ahead of the Lakers, who I see competing with the likes of Memphis, Minnesota and Utah for the final playoff spot.

After the Spurs, the Mavericks, the Suns and the Clippers, everything is a bit jumbled, but I think the Kings and the Hornets are alone on the second tier with the Nuggets, the Lakers, the Grizzlies, the Timberwolves and the Jazz all duking it out on the third tier.

Same. I don't buy the queens, either. I don't see the twolves getting in. The West looks pretty stacked and a couple good teams will be left home.

I am a big time Spurs fan but the Rockets look stack this year, I would put the Rockets at #3. The West is where it is at in 2007, the games will be better played and the match ups are better also.

When we look at the changes my top 3 teams in the West made I still feel that the Spurs will be on top. The 2 BIGs that we let go did nothing against Dallas, so the 2 we added can't be worse only better.

Dallas will still be the team to beat, but do not sleep on the Rockets

In fact, it's easy to make the case that 14 of the conference's 15 teams are good enough to make the playoffs. (Sorry Portland.)

Rockets don't scare me. They still have no PG, health is always an issue when you have McGrady, and outside of their "Big 3" they really don't have much of an offense or bench. If they stay healthy, they'll have a good chance of making the playoffs. However, their lack of experience, defense, and bench will not make them scary in the playoffs. I would be more scared of the Suns if Amare is back to 100%...

EDIT: I just read the thread that said Bonzi, the Spurs Killer, is going to the Rockets. Perhaps now the Rockets scare me a little...

I've thought that about the Rockets ever since they got T-Mac. Never again. I'm predicting 22-60 for them, just to be safe.

BTW: It's good to be a Spurs fan. That top 4 has COMPLETELY turned over in the past 8 seasons; 'cept for 1 team.

Dallas should be the team to beat in the West. However I fully expect and believe the Spurs will beat them this year. Finish off what they didn't last year.

Spurs need to win the season series and finish the season with a better record than the Mavs. I guarantee Avery will stress the importance of both these goals to his team.

I expect the Spurs, health willing, to be better than the Mavs. However, you can't call the Spurs #1 until they dethrone the Mavs for their short stint.

I think the Lakers are too high...but with 1 more year of Triangle experience and having some nice shooters to help Kobe and Lamar...it looks good. I do think 5 or 6 seed. Oh, and to the people who aren't even picking the Lakers to get in the playoffs should maybe watch the NBA from time to time.
