Well, we're not lottery bound by any means, but our off-season was underwhelming, regardless of what Houston did.

I just saw R.C. Buford at a restaurant in the Quarry, picking up some grub.

He told me they're really excited about what Greg Oden will bring to the team.

Lottery Houston drafts Rudy Gay, then trades him for Battier. If the Spurs ever do get to the lottery any time soon, let's hope they don't trade a player like Rudy Gay.

Right, because Rudy Gay has all the potential in the world. He could be the next Eddie Griffin or Mike Dunleavy or Josh Childress or DerMarr Johnson, among other high lottery picks ... oh wait.

Battier trade was not the greatest trade ever. But, the Rockets didn't need another go-to superstar type of guy. They need a glue-guy who does those intangible things and is prepared to contribute right away.

All teams make mistakes in the draft, in the lottery or afterwards ... Josh Howard, Leandro Barbosa anyone?

Just look at how valuable Battier was for team USA. Hopefully JVG will teach him how to defend the pick and roll.

I like Shane Battier, his tough D and his ability to do a lot of the little things to help his team. He's an excellent player in the end-game situations. With that said, I think Rudy Gay will be a great NBA player. Tracy McGrady's back is a big problem, so if he goes down, Yao and Wells are it, for scoring. Gay has Marion-like qualities and I'm sure the Spurs wouldn't have passed on him, if they had the chance to draft him. I watch a lot of college basketball and believe me, Rudy Gay is no Eddie Griffin.

Yeah, how could you possibly improve at that position when those guys were such a huge part of the playoff rotation? As long as Elson or Butler don't shoot a three pointer in a blow out and actually make it, they should be fine.

Hey when you're wasting away in TaCOMA Washington it's a little tough to get the latest news. What exactly are y'all ing about on this thread. Did we make a trade or something. I've got Ticket 760 internet on right now and there's nothing. Nothing on any of the Spurs pages and nothing on NBA.com. What did we do????
