Nice thread idea ... much needed.

Trajan Langdon is pretty horrible ... but he can shoot. I guess if the Spurs start the season and realize that they are still lacking shooters, they could call the Alaskan Assassian.

Gary Trent can't get a job as a backup big man anywhere? Strange.

Same with Terrence Morris, tall foward with range, bit surprising.

Baxter and Trent are physical guys who can play a role, but only from 10 feet and in.

Kasib Powell could do very well in Europe.

Word is Trent came into camp horribly out of shape. He's probably done in the league unless he can find a treadmill.

The main reason though he didn't stick in Chi was not his weight, it was his at ude. He's always had a chip on his shoulder, not the good kind either. Remember, even in MN he complained of PT. They didn't like his at ude with the young kids they have there.

If LJ3 is going to be out for awhile, I'd definitely consider Morris as a stopgap. All the talent, none of the heart -- but good for a few weeks at least.

He was a Spur the year before last. Had a big game in a win at Sacramento.

Not much upside in this league for a fat boy with an "I deserve more time" at ude--cause there's always another one comin' down the line.

Goldwire - not a bad choice as a third point guard. Better than Wilks? At least Wilks has some upside. In a pinch, Goldwire wouldn't be a bad pickup. That is, if Beno is going to miss some time, the Spurs might want to give him a call.

Baxter - I lived in Chicago for a year and got to see him play some. He's serviceable. He'll never be anything special, but he can bang a little bit and I'd rather have him than Massenburg.

Matt Carroll - Can shoot, knows something about the system. The Spurs are going to take a chance on Sato and I can't blame them, but if Bowen, Barry, Manu, or Brown get hurt anytime soon, Carroll would be a solid pickup.

Eddie Robinson - The Spurs don't need this headache, but he'll catch on somewhere. Rarely does a player with so much talent screw up his chances to succeed in the NBA to this extent. If someone can turn him around, he could be a pretty good player. I wouldn't count on it, but it will be interesting to see what happens to him.

Agreed about Eddie Robinson. No way I'd trade Massenburg for Baxter, even though I liked Baxter coming off his final year at MD. Massenburg is very experienced and skilled down on the block defensively, plus he knows how to score in a pinch.

I love Sato so I'd hate to see him go but the only guy I'd go for (of the ones released yesterday) would be Bo Outlaw, .

He rolled his foot on a teammate's foot (at least that's what it looked like on the replay) in the last preseason game. He sprained the left ankle. I think he hurt that same ankle last year.

Too bad. I really like his play, herky jerky style. He's the bargain signing of the off season imo.

I guess Massenburg left a bad taste in my mouth last year in Sacramento. He complained time and time again when he didn't get playing time, and although I don't know if he went to the press or not, everybody certainly knew about it. I just don't like the fact that the Spurs will have a twelfth man who is known to complain about not playing. I'm worried about him creating a chemistry problem.

Now, I don't really think it will become a big deal. But if another big comes up and he can give us similar things, I'm in support of giving that other player a shot.

Massenburg called out the Kings for being soft. That seemed to have been the cause of the problems in Sacto.

Donnell Harvey would be a decent pick-up for a team that is not the Spurs.

Good to see Andre Emmett, former Big 12 standout get a spot on the Grizzlies roster. This guy is a terrific scorer, everthing else though, he needs major improvement if we wants any significant playing time.
