....NBC posted the stat that the Steelers haven't lost a game when leading at halftime by 8 points.

The Chargers always break these streaks so it was nice for them to have another one broken. Rivers was finally allowed to play, and showed he can.

    This was a statement game.

That streak is still alive. Pittsburgh led 13-7 at the half.

It's about time Schotty took the shackles off of Rivers and let him throw downfield last night. His conservative playcalling in the second half against Baltimore last week nearly had me throwing bricks at my television set.

Yes, but once they posted that stat on the screen, it was time for the Chargers to prove them wrong. Seems to go like this a lot for them. First the Gillette streak, then the Colts, now this.

And yes, Rivers has been set free. The kid sure can play and the accuracy on some of his passes amazes me. All this after three years? Its going to be a good 5 years for Chargers fans.

If the Chargers are smart, they'll lock up Michael Turner for a few more years as well.
Kid's a damn good replacement for LT when he needs a break for a down or two.

This is under heavy discussion on the Chargers board.

The Chargers do need to lock him up and should be able to. As long as he doesn't command a top 10 player type contract. The team has no cap problems what so ever right now and has every key player locked up for the next five years. Turner is the last one who needs to be retained and offered a contract. He is actually getting the ball a lot this season and has outrushed LT in 2 of his 4 games.

I think we will see LT utilized more in the slot and Turner in the backfield when the run is being stopped. A 1-2 punch of Tomlinson and Turner is lethal. I also like Turner returning the kickoffs. Dude has wheels. Hopefully Turner will see the chance he's been given to be on a contending team and compete for the next 4-5 years as a good thing. Hopefully big bucks won't steer him from the ultimate goal of a championship.
