    Funny thing is, our schools don't even get this holiday off. I used to love it when my kids were in school, party time!

    Only banks get it off. And it isn't really significant if you aren't Italian.

    My teacher said we traded Columbus Day to get MLK off, and we gave up a President's birthday to get a whole week off for Thanksgiving.

    I had to work, but traffic was a breeze with no school. My company gives us the day after Thanksgiving off, plus the day after Christmas, so I can't complain about not having Columbus Day, I guess.
