I'd think he'd want to do it, just so the Spurs could be distracted by laughter at such a celebration.
Just heard on the news.... just paraphrasing, Marc Cuban is scared of the Spurs showing their wrath on his team.
Im sure someone will find the exact quote somewhere, looking now.
I'd think he'd want to do it, just so the Spurs could be distracted by laughter at such a celebration.
There's that, too.
I tend to agree with Sequ here, but that's a weak move by the Mavericks if it's true.
hey, I just heard it on the news, thought it was funny and its obviously related to the Spurs... dont hate the messanger.
Why wouldn't they have unveiled it at the NBA Finals?
God, I wish they would do it. Nothing like seeing the Spurs go kill a team on banner night, like they did to the Lakers in 2003. Then again, the Lakers had a banner that actually meant something.
For those of you who haven't been to a GTG, you should hear her say that in person.
Or you could just post your mp3 file.
"spurschick" and "pussies" is a very pleasant association![]()
Why hang the damn banner in the first place? Ooops I forgot. It's all they have to show for their 2006 championship run.
This is typical for a franchise so desparate for recognition that they hung a banner to commemorate A.C. Green's record for consecutive games played during his brief tenure with the Mavs.
Strange, but that's the God's honest truth.
Well, to be fair, the Spurs have three similar banners hanging in the rafters of the AT&T Center. I wouldn't be too fast to criticize the Mavericks for wanting to hang a banner to commemorate a Western Conference championship.
The timing of the celebration is curious -- I wonder what they would have done if Nellie hadn't happened to be coming in so early in the season? I don't know too many franchises that would delay doing something like that -- in fact, most probably would have hung the conference le banner before the Finals started.
Knowing Cuban, that couldn't happen because the banner the Mavericks will hang will be about the size of a football field.
Let them do it, so the Spurs can spoil their party!
Or not.
I swear there is a quote from Mark Cuban going along the lines that he didnt want to piss off the spurs anymore then they already are. I hope KENS or WOAI or whatever news station I was watching on TV posts it on the web.... it was a direct quote... I just cant remember exactly what he said.
don't mean a thing without the rings............![]()

Read that, then read below.
So, right now, I would just like you to sit here and take your lumps, Brilliant, but I doubt you actually will....and then, spurschick's comment above will be ever so correct.
Don't worry, we'll wait.
