I hope the Spurs have practiced these alot-- at least from what I have seen of the pre-season in the NBA, lots of fouls are being called-- lots!

In the game on Monday a ref even called delay of game for a jersey being untucked when the player went to enter the game.

You know my point-- if games come down to lots of free throws, the Spurs better start shooting a higher percent. And Tim should have been forced long ago to get some help.

Spurs haven't been a good FT shooting team in a while. In fact, even players who used to be good FT shooters seem to get worse when they come to the Spurs, it's contagious or something (see Brent Barry). Last season, the only player we had during the regular season to shoot 80% or better was Finley. They're always going to have games where they lose it on the FT line...it's happened every season. They just need to make sure it doesn't happen that often and that they make more than they miss during crunchtime.

Parker's FT's have been looking good since the playoffs and the preseason. Hopefully Manu will get back to form on the FT's too...even he was missing quite a few last season. Duncan is Duncan...he can give you 20 FT's made in a row or 15 out of 20 missed in a row.

Nazr was one of the best FT shooters last season-- ugly jump shooter- beautiful free throws! Another was Beno- but what are his chances of seeing a court anytime soon!

Tim, Manu, and Bruce all digressed from the line last year. They have to improve.

It's a mystery why the Spurs have so much trouble with FTs, almost by rule, while Don Nelson coached teams Bucks, Warriors, Mavs seem to always shoot them well.

Is it the type of player (offensively oriented)? Is it the practice technique? What gives here? The only other thing I can think of would be the strong effort expended by the Spurs on defense, but wouldn't that also effect their outside shooting on normal FGs?

I may have to consult with Aggie Hoopsfan on this to find the answers to these deep thoughts.
