It's a good thing we have you for free SeguSpur.
Seriously, is April Fools over or what? You know every year, I like to pull some chains around here and a little here and there, but this guy is terrible. He can't play defense, he can't rebound, he can barely shoot it. Yeah, maybe on a bad team he can get some time and have a good game here and there but this is the San Antonio Spurs.
I watched this got damn preseason game for 5 minutes and about threw up.
Who is Bonner?
Bonner is receiving 2.0 million US dollars this season. Thanks for making sure. End of this stupid thread.
There are 5 scrubs on the Spurs right now that are hall of famers compared to him that will probably be let go tomorrow. That's ridiculous.
It's just the preseason, bro. Way to follow up.
I can recognize talent bro, I play 21 in my neighborhood. I know who can play and who can't, preseason, NBA, WNBA or my hood.
Wake up.
I recognize sky-is-falling posters who never add anything substantive.
sky is falling?
Bro, the sky doesn't fall for me, because I can see through the Pop stink. Reality, call it as it is.
I would worry about getting that worked up over a preseason game, dude. Besides, half those guys won't see a lot of minutes come November anyway.
Dude, you live in Oz.
Manure?Wake up.
its a in preseason game for Godsakes ... if you're going to throw up over a preseason game you need to see a doctor.
Bonner made the game highlights.
When Tyrus Thomas blocked himthen had a huge dunk of his own on the other end.
where did he block him, when he was going for a layup or something? or on a three?
unfortunately we gonna have to deal with these kinda lame threads all season long.
wake up Spur fans, it's gonna be a loooong season and Spurs might struggle at some points. Just remember, come playoffs and if our big 3 are healthy, we will have just as good a chance as the last couple of season to win it all.
Bonner was never intended to be a great player, or even a great role player. He was part of the Great Rasho Nesterovic Salary Dump. Talking about him contributing in a Robert Horry role is tantamount to Pop saying he's going to tap Elson's unfound offensive capabilities. If something happens, swell. Otherwise, don't expect a whole lot.
Bonner was trying to dunk.
Defensively, Bonner will cover Dirk about like Croshere will cover Duncan. Neither will ever be a defensive stopper in any way, shape or form. Both can shoot, both have energy, but that's about it. At least Croshere can pull down some boards. At any rate, both should be playoff scrubs.

Spurs management did not look at Matt Bonner as being a defensive stopper, nor swift afoot, nor anything other than a guy with size who plays with energy and can stretch the opposing defense from the perimeter. I remember RC Buford, in a radio interview, was asked about some of the things they see in Bonner and the interviewer (Vexler) suggested that Matt might be quick enough to defend the likes of Dirk Nowitzki. RC quickly rebuffed that notion by basically saying that nobody has ever accused Matt Bonner of having quickness.![]()
In their eternal optimism, Spurs fans have built up Bonner to have skills and talents he does not have. They thought he might be the next Horry, forgetting in his youth Horry had great athleticism. Even now, Horry might be more athletic than Bonner.
Bonner is 1) a good shooter; and 2) a scrapper.
That's it. Oh, and 3) a good locker-room guy.
eternal optimism > eternal pessimism
