I thought he sucked, and not just this game.
1.Cardinal pitchers are throwing a ton of fat sweeping over-the-plate curveballs and they take take take. Low and out of strike zone pitches and they flail at them. Did they learn nothing from the folly of the Padres in Round 1?

2. He never played to advance runner or squeeze and win a close game with your defense, instead always goes for hit/long ball. Cardinals have a good defensive team. If you have to beat them 2-1 or 4-2, go for it.

After the tremendous catch by LF Chavez in top 6, bottom 6the Mets get 2nd and 3rd only 1 out. He lets Valentine hack away and he wiffs badly. I thought a squeeze run to go ahead 2-1 would have been huge momentum swing at home. Maybe Valentine sucks at bunting.

Bottom 9 with two singles in a row runners at 1st and 2nd he then has ice cold injured off the bench Cliff Floyd bat. Not bunt, but bat. Another wiff, another blown chance.

Having Floyd swing away was one of the top 5 dumbest things I've ever seen done in baseball playoffs. Ever.
