Redskins' loss points to Bush departure
Yahoo NewsWASHINGTON (AFP) - The Washington Redskins lost to the Green Pay Packers and thus, according to a sporting legend that has proved eerily accurate, President George W. Bush (news - web sites) is bound to lose the White House.
The polls may show Bush and his Democratic challenger John Kerry (news - web sites) locked in a dead heat ahead of Tuesday's presidential election, but for those with a taste for omens and supers ion, the race was over when the whistle blew on the Redskins' 28-14 defeat.
Since 1936, when the Redskins' franchise moved from Boston to Washington, the American football team's pre-election performance at home has predicted the presidential winner.
The legend surrounding the Redskins' last home game before Election Day is simplicity itself: If they win, the White House in bent will remain president. If they lose, the in bent loses.
Still plenty of time to make some serious E-bookie cash. Bet it all on Kerry!
i think the kids poll from weekly reader is a better indicator and they picked bush... the redskins only says if the in bent stay in power and it only qualifies if the redskins played at home... so that is only a handful of games...
weekly reader poll was 100% for every race since 1956 when the magazine poll started...
It refers to the In bent PARTY and it is the LAST home game before the election... so it has been applicable to every election since 1936 and has been 100% accurate. If you believe in that sort of thing.the redskins only says if the in bent stay in power and it only qualifies if the redskins played at home... so that is only a handful of games...
The "Bambino " says trends are made to be broken.![]()
but that is limited in scope.. plus, there is another thread on this subject and it shows this has not been 100% accurate
I think these kids polls and football game results are all coincidental nonsense.
Thats logical .
I assume you are being sarcastic ...
So, it's logical to believe that the winner of the Green Bay/Dallas game has a direct impact on the result of the election?
There was no sarcasim intended dc. I simply said "thats logical". OK?
Ah, I'm accustomed to being on the offensive here, heh. Then we agree. That's a first.![]()
Imagine that!
Well the BoSox won the WS on the night of a lunar eclipse after being down 3-0 to the Yankees.
A&M lost to Baylor in football.
Osama's on tape saying that what Bush is doing is working.
If ever there was a time when supers ions, trends, and history to be broken, you're staring at it.
The Patriots win streak ended today as well.
The last election to occur after a BoSox World Series le (1920), the Republicans won.
Guess Kerry's screwed now.
Do you mean there is another thread on the subject that shows that columnists are illiterate? The "proof" that the Redskin rule has not been accurate is based on the Skins 1996 loss to the Bills, but that was a Road Game for the Skins, and the rule refers to the Skins last HOME game before the election.but that is limited in scope.. plus, there is another thread on this subject and it shows this has not been 100% accurate
I don't believe in this kind of stuff, but the "Redskin" rule has been 100% accurate from 1936 to 2000.
this game had nothing to do with the presidentaly race![]()
And the kiddo's poll has been 100% accurate since its inception in 1956.
But of course that Red Sox thing is 100% accuratesince 1918.![]()
