Game #1 will be pretty big. Spurs need to handle the Mavs in that game to show that last year was a fluke.

The one that seals the Spurs' home court advantage throughout the playoffs.

    "Game #1"

too damn late. I wanna sees the Spurs play to blow out the Mavs in the last pre-season game.

If Pop doesn't know our 15 guys by then, I can't see how one game will change that. Pop, just close your eyes and throw a dart at the names of the candidates for 15th spot.

frickin Mavs coming into our gym and beating us 2 in a row is totally unacceptable, pre-season included.

    Espeically this pre-season Mavs game when the previous, still-hurts L @ATT was a Game7.

The April 15th game will be important if the overall record and SWC seeding is still in play, otherwise, Pop could be already in "rest 'em for the playoffs" mode.

In this upcoming preseason game, I hope the starters don't even play. If the Spurs lost 140-2 I wouldn't care.

Game #1 is where it's at.

I'll only be disappointed if the Pop plays to win and we lose. And then esp if go up to DAL and lose there, too. Then this forum be pre-occupied with DAL all season

If Pop goofs off in the pre-season game, I won't care that much. But IIRC, he tends to play the last pre-season game pretty much for real, and the players may have some strong opinions about how to play the pre-season game, too.

I agree. Beat 'em on their home court with a new case of players who are untested in our system and you put that little nugget of fear into the back of their minds that will nag at them all year.

Both these teams are talented enough to win it all so the psychological factor may be important in determining the eventual winner out of the West.

    Thus spake Zarathrusta.

While I would certainly want to agree with TimVP, the only thing I add is that its suuuuuuuuuuuuuch a long season. Really, I think that the last two matchups against Dallas will be the big games. Also, I like the road games at Miami and Detroit.

No single regular season game is important. They just need to win 60+ and get into the playoffs healthy.

I agree. Health is the key here. Seeding is important too, but I'd rather be a 4th seed and healthy than a 1 or 2 and hobbling.

haha, guess you guys don't have any important games this season... good luck with bonner on dirk... If I'm not mistaken, Dirk hit a game-winning shot on his grill last season with him playing in the raptors lol

It just might be better in the long run if the Spurs get beat in their first game. If they win in Dallas it might re-inforce the thought that last season's playoffs were a fluke or they really did get screwed by the refs and make them feel comfortable again. They lose and they will recognize there might just be a gap between the two teams and make them work that much harder all year.

I agree that all games are equally important. They should be on a quest to seal home-court advantage every night they step on the court. At the same time, I don't expect Pop to wear the team out like the Pistons did to themselves last season. Slow and steady wins the race. The first game with any more importance than any other isn't in the regular season.

Thursday, April 5, 2007. Phoenix comes to SA on national tv (TNT). This is when Amare will be healthy and Spurs will be neck and neck with Suns and Dallas for best record in the west. Sir Charles will make the prediction that Nash will dominate Parker and Suns will win.

"Spurs will be neck and neck with Suns and Dallas for best record"

The Mavs won't be neck-and-neck with anyone.

The Suns' hold on 2nd seed may be at risk from the Spurs, but that's all.
