"TEAM IS EVERYTHING" AS THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS SET TO TIP-OFF THEIR REGULAR SEASON HOME OPENER THIS FRIDAY NIGHT
SAN ANTONIO, October 31, 2006 - The San Antonio Spurs officially tip-off their 2006-07 NBA regular season home opener on Friday, November 3, alongside an assortment of events to properly welcome the return of the Spurs season to the AT&T Center. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers come to town on Friday with the game starting at its new earlier start time this season of 7:00 p.m.
The first 15,000 fans through the doors opening night will receive a "Spurs Maraca" courtesy of AT&T. This giveaway is sure to get the building "shaking" with the tip-off of the first home game of the regular season.
The night will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Spurs Hour in Express-News Headlines that runs until 6:00 p.m. Spurs Hour will have reduced beverage prices and complimentary snacks for fans.
Outside on the West Plaza beginning at 5:00 p.m. until game tip-off, fans can enjoy performances by the AT&T Coyote Crew and Silver Dancers. There will be activities for the kids that include jugglers, face painters and balloon artists along with DJ Happy spinning tunes. At the same time, outside on the East Plaza, fans can enjoy the sounds of Campanas de America, a mariachi band of San Antonio.
At 7:00 p.m., the season tips-off with the National Anthem performed by 2005 CMA (Country Music Association) Award Single of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Musical Event winner, Lee Ann Womack.
Fans should not miss the new AT&T Center Building Enhancements sure to make the experience of watching a game live and in-person even more exciting. Fans can stop by various AT&T interactive areas including the X-Box 360, high-speed Internet and E-Shot Photo (fans take a photo of themselves in front of a unique, customized backdrop scene and when they get home, they can go online to retrieve the photo) stations throughout the building.
Individual tickets still remain for Friday's home opener against the Cavaliers. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster Ticket Center locations including Macy's and select H-E-B locations, Charge by Phone at (210) 225-TEAM or online at ticketmaster.com or spurs.com. You can also purchase tickets at the AT&T Center Box Office.
