And now for what may be the most bizarre AT&T speculation so far this year (and, boy, has there been plenty):

Forbes.com reported that GE may be ready to sell the NBC television network because of its dwindling ratings and profits. And AT&T may be potential buyer, according to the report, seeing as the company is getting into the video business.

While AT&T is moving into the business of delivering TV signal, I just can't see Big Ed and rest of the folks on Houston Street wanting to develop TV content. I think they've got their hands full making sure the company's ambitious U-verse rollout works.

An AT&T spokesman said the company doesn't comment on "rumor and speculation." And I think this report falls squarely in that category.
