Yeah, Colt McCoy is bad ass. He already broke the Texas passing TD record with 27 and will add onto that the next 2 games. Also he is only a freshman....Vince had 26 passing TDs last season.
I've heard a few people talk about it, but gotdamn if he isn't putting up a huge year. In a season where there isn't that one guy that is getting all they hype (i mean damn, Troy Smith is the favorite right now), shouldn't Colt at least be invited to the ceremony?
McCoy - 170/246 2051yds 69.1% 8.34avg 27TD 4INT 12sack 172.10RAT
Quinn - 216/338 2579yds 63.9% 7.63avg 25TD 4INT 24sack 150.04RAT
Smith - 158/237 2006yds 66.7% 8.46avg 22TD 3INT 11SACK 165.87RAT

hehe
Yeah, I've been asking this all season. If you compared Colt's numbers to Troy's like three weeks ago they were close, now he completely statistically superior to troy smith. But first of all....they never give the nod to freshmen, and always give the highest nods to seniors. So that seperates them right there. But most importantly, like team rankings, the "preseason ranking" of heisman candidates determines most of the outcome. Basically, the real reason Troy Smith is going to win the heisman (besides his team's record) is because he was ranked number 1 candidate.
To put it another way, he's going to win the heisman because the pundits predicted he would win the heisman. It's ing stupid, but hey we're talking about NCAA football here.
They show us Troy Smith highlights of him scramling and throwing a TD pass. BFD! Every QB does that. What is it that truely makes him this season's reggie bush? His highlights are mediocre for a heisman candidate, and his stats are not stunning whatsoever.
If mccoy were a senior entering this season I garuntee you we'd have alot of Smith vs McCoy hype for the heisman.
One loss is enough to do in a freshman's Heisman hopes, whether that is "fair" or not.
True that. I dont think he deserves it at all, but so far, i dont think anyone deserves it either. lol.
Brady Quinn is Jesus's choice.
And, like Jesus, he's lily-white.
Are you ing kidding me? Why isn't their Darren McFadden talk?
This is exactly why they Heisman is such a meaningless award. People make a big deal about it, but it is just a glorified, male beauty pageant. The downtown athletic club is a bunch of worthless old ers who need not have anything to do with college football. Here's my ideas for 2007:
1) Completely do away with the Heisman.
2) Keep the Bowl system, but use the "BCS" Bowls to decide the national champion in a top 4 team playoff. Two bowls for the semi-final, and one a week later for the national championship.
Easy as pie.
But they couldn't do something like that BiG cuz that would make sense.
Your exactly right. But the thing is the East coast media doesn't give a about Texas. If you watched and followed every Texas game last year you would see Vince Young was the Heisman winner. Pulled comebacks out of his ass against OSU, Kansas, Ohio State, ect...But all the damn media pays attention to is big East Coast-West Coast teams. I'll admit though Reggie Bush had some a-tight runs last year, but you can't say that Reggie Bush's man hump on Matt Leinart to push him into the endzone vs Notre Dame is any better than VY's amazing pump fake run for 70-80 some yards for a TD to keep us in the game. But who gets all the attention? Reggie Bush. This year? Brady ? Not Saying schools like Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami are bad schools but they get all the attention. I do think Troy Smith is the Heisman this year(gets the notch since he beat McCoy head to head), but McCoy should be #2 since Peterson and Bush are out for the season. The Heisman is the biggest award in college sports....?....yet its the most unfairly decited award in all of sports.oh well....But at least next year we can gladly say....Colt McCoy for Heisman Baby!!!!!!!!!!!

The Heisman is a joke these days. It isn't what it used to be as witnessed by last year's total ignorance of Vince Young. I could have taken him getting 2nd to Bush in the Heisman voting, but Bush winning by the biggest margin in Heisman history? That's just pathetic. Of course, Vince proved why the Heisman is nothing but a tarnished peice of metal by rolling all over the Trojans in the Rose Bowl. Or, as I like to put it ...
Two vs. None and still couldn't get it done.
BTW, I don't think a Freshman has ever won a Hiesman, have they? I think even as a Sop re, you have to almost be walking on water for the Heisman folks to even consider you. So, unless Colt not only breaks records, but breaks them and then some, he won't even be considered. Maybe not even next year.

I concur.
Meaningless? Yeah, that's why the top players in the country ignore it.![]()
The only reason anyone cares about the heisman is because of the media hype and attention that it gets. All players care about is positive exposure, because that is what get's them drafted higher and makes them more money. To the actual game of football and people who are true fans - the award means nothing. Winning is all that matters.
If they were going to give it to a QB just on the basis of rating the guy for Hawaii would be the unanimous choice.
McCoy plays on an extremely talented team and is just now making a name for himself...
His stats aren't eyepopping enough to get any Hesiman talk.
Although...if he does set the NCAA record for TD's by a freshman, you'll probably start hearing his name mentioned.
The Big 12 sucks ass! Put him in a decent conference like the Pac-10 and see what kind of numbers he would put up.
Wait, where the the Ark homer to say how he would be crap in the SEC?
LMAO!!!!!
Oh wait, you were serious???![]()
Pac 10?? Oregon beat Ok. in Oregon by cheating alone, Oregon State took out the vastly overrated USC, and CAL is very good but inconsistent. I wouldn't say that the Big 12 is better, but the Pac 10 is definitely not better.
The Pac 10 is the best conference in all of college football. Check the Sagarin ratings.
Anyone except Pac-10 pundits know that Sagarin is biased to anyone west of the Rockies. I don't think he had Texas ranked #1 all last year until they beat USC in the Rose Bowl.Check the Sagarin ratings.
if he keeps these types of nums up he will be mentioned next year for sure.
That's the best argument you have? I'd probably trust JGW's dumb statements about as much as this fool. Weak. Very Weak.
Colt 4 Heisman!
Ok...maybe in a couple of years.
Oh and Brut....Kirk Herbstreit has been talking up your boy for a few weeks now.
