Eerily reminiscent of the complete domination of the game where the Spurs ended the Lakers le dreams.
ummm.. the lakers might be pretty good this years, especially when karl malone comes back toward december, but i dont think them being one of the highest scoring teams in the league would be realistic, lets think about who else will score besides Kobe, Odom, Kobe, Butler, and Kobe? You need more than that just to outscore the mavericks and the Kings.
also you really need to have more than blind faith in this forum, because people will jump all over your ass. If you were to come out and say, "...I think the rotation of Odom and Bryan Grant on Duncan can slow him down enough to allow Kobe to take over the game..." people would still jump all over your ass but because your wrong not because your just putting out a staement without any good evidence. Next, lets consider Whether Kobe can be effective enough against Bruce Bowen ( i said effective 9-62 with 30 pts isnt effective) to cancel out the dynamic backcourt duo of the spurs' Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. Chances are they'll probably end up about equal, then can Caron Butler rebound from a ty season last year and handle any of the scoring load? Will Lamar Odom stay clean and focused?

i've seen too much Kobe in my lifetime to say that there is no way. Sometimes these run and gun teams can cause the Spurs more problems than the talented ones. I could see the Lakers scoring 110 on the Spurs, but I can't see anyone on the Lakers even trying to stop Tim from getting 40/20/5. If the Lakers shoot lights out, they've got a chance, but it will have to be from the perimeter, and we all know the playoff fates of perimeter teams.
So, the Lakers COULD POSSIBLY beat the Spurs for one game. The difference in fan base now is that we don't give a crap about one game, we want a LE. Amuse yourselves then Laker fans, with your spattering of regular season wins, because it is all that you will have to cling to for a very long time.

Anyhow, I actually think the Lakers will win this Friday night. It's at LA, the Spurs are notorious slow starters to the season. What will possibly hurt the Lakers is having zero inside game with Vlade missing in action.
