Only current player with a shot would be Andrei Kirilenko.
A friend of mine was browsing around and told me this note (I know it's probably nothing new, but read me out): Not only have there only been four quadruple-doubles in NBA history, but no player has ever had double-digits in points, rebounds, steals, assists and blocks at any game in their careers.
Anyway, we were just trying to figure out if any active player had a legitimate shot at doing that once in their careers.
Some names we've tossed out are: Shawn Marion, Josh Smith, Gerald Wallace and Kevin Garnett.
Thoughts?
Only current player with a shot would be Andrei Kirilenko.
Good catch. We missed him.
AK had 8 steals on Dec. 3, 2003 vs. Houston.
10 blocks last season against the Kings.
tim duncan has a chance.....hahahahaha
2 of the 4 that had quad doubles were spurs
I think he could in the right system, but Utah wouldn't be that system. He would come up short in dimes, because he's not the primary ball handler. Sloan likes a PG that dominates the ball.
And David barely missed two more times.
Tim was like 2 assts or 2 something shy of one in game 6 of the 03 finals![]()
He's already had 11 assists in a game in January against the Raptors. Only stat he lacks it in is steals (had 8 before).
Tim's line:
21 pts
20 rbs
10 asts
8 blks
I would say AK. You'd have to be long enough to block shots, play the passing lanes, 10 point scoring night, alot of open looks for your teammates, and good boxing out... could it be possible for ak?
Add Brevin Knight to the list (for the quad). He had a game earlier this week with 22 points, 7 assists, 5 boards, 4 steals.
I also think Manu has come close a few times with points/boards/assists/steals.
Lebron can get it with points, rebs, assists and steals so can Wade
Don't forget...Johnny Moore was one steal short of doing it. One steal...
Don't forget that two of those four players that have recorded the elusive quadruple double are former Spurs players - DRob and Alvin Robertson
If we are talking a quint...well the hardest part is the steals...since the NBA record is 11 steals(held by San Antonio Spur Larry Kenon)
The guy who has come the closest to doing it based on career highs after Kirilenko, is Chris Webber....
Others that have seem to have the capability to pull it off based on career bests are:
Dirk Nowitzki(9 steals, active high mark in the NBA)
Kevin Garnett
Tracy McGrady(Not enough of a shotblocker to do it now, but early in his career he was a nice shotblocker)
Shawn Marion
And IMO Lamar Odom could pull it off too.
But as it stands now, Shaq and Kirilenko are the only guys who have even pulled off a career quadruple double.
As for who might be able to pull it off, one youngster....
Josh Smith...
I'd be willing to bet Hakeem Olajuwon probably came the closest to pulling it off based on career highs...we know he did it in blocks, assists, boards and points...and Hakeem was the best big man steal artist in NBA history.

As for a quad...any great shotblocker has the ability to do it. Doing it the way Alvin Robertson and Johnny Moore(almost) did it, with steals, is the hard way.
I guess Ron Artest or AI might be capable of pulling it off with steals...
Steals are weird...I think Drob had his career best game in steals in his final season.
Didn't know that. How incredible would it have been to have had 3 former Spurs on that quadruple-double list.
Yeah...If Johnny had done it he would have been the first Spur to do it.
Shaq also nearly pulled one off in the finals against the Sixers. Shaq had like 9 assists and 8 blocks.
So was Larry Bird (if it was not an assist) when there was few minutes PT left. Coach put him on the bench until the end of the game.

Slightly off-topic question:
Aside from the four quadruple-double occasions, has there been anyone who has pulled off a triple-double without scoring 10 or more points?
