Tim stats for the last 3 games:

    23 pts / 15 rds / 3.3 ast / 2.6 bl in 37 minutes

Do you think TD could keep this MVP pace for all the season?
    Do you think he should?
Do you prefer him to play less in the regular season (IMO, when it is possible he should play 30 minutes nothing more)?

Duncan will never get another MVP. The players around him now are too good. He has 3 All-stars or former all-stars in Finley, TP, and Manu. He also has the best defensive guard in the league. Without Timmy, we would still have a good chance at making the playoffs. If Wade, LeBron, Nash, and Chris Paul missed the entire year with an injury, their teams would have no chance.
I say he will get it if we get the best record in the NBA.. and his stats are atleast 21-12-3-1

Do they have that big chance winning it all?

He's on MVP LEVEL, and I believe if we get close to 65 wins that he will be a highly considered candidate if not the winner.

Wade won't be MVP unless the Heat turnaround big time, Kobe won't because of his surgery, and I think that it's between James and Duncan for a long run, but Redd has been amazing this year, but I really doubt he gets that type of honor.

The usual candidates will be there though, even if they don't "deserve" it.

Right now it's between James and Duncan, honestly, who can argue with that about impact players?

No way Nash or Paul gets MVP, Paul might in 3 years, but nobody will vote for him I think, and Nash deserved the MVP in 05, but in 06 the MVP of the league was Kobe by far, yet, Nash got it. Anyway, that's another rant for another time!

I don't think he'll get the MVP, but I honestly don't care. I just want him to stay healthy and give 20/12 production on the season. There will be other players on good, but not great, teams that will have superior numbers. Duncan will be in the convo if he's @ 22pts/12rebs/3blks a game, but I doubt he takes it.

If we need Duncan in the game to score, then he should play, but if we're getting enough production from our bench (Beno, Fin, Barry, etc.) then I agree with you that he should sit.

with or without wins, wade will be a candidate, thats how lame it is

atm the mvp has lebron james carved on it already, its just a process of proving the voters wrong. Nba and bspn can just give it to him now if they wanted

tim duncan will need to post up 23 13 3 63+ wins if his to be considered a real threat.

nash wont get it, since his suns are off to a slow start.

kidd has been playin out of his ass lately, triple doubles here and there, his got a good chance if the nets can get 50 wins.

KG once again is up there with the pack with his stats, but not enough wins imo.

Yao ming can also win it, but it looks like as long his always 2nd option on offense behind tmac, the rockets will continue to lose games.....no way robin<batman.

23/13/4/3 on 50+% and probably 64-68 wins and Tim would be in with a shot. Certainly wouldn't be set in stone.

If Cleveland win over 50 games, LeBron will win it. He is going to average in excess of 30-6-6.

I wish Duncan would play like his 2001-2004 self. That was his prime and I hope he can rediscover and improve upon his play from that era. He certainly isn't old, and it isn't impossible for him to get back to that level.

I miss the old Duncan's production.

I think his numbers will suffer too much on those second nights of back to backs for him to have a shot. He might have a tough game tonight vs. Okafor, but Charlotte played yesterday too.

Still, I think we're gonna need Tony, Oberto, and Bones tonight.

Anyone who thinks Duncan is at an MVP level is blind, a homer, or both. He's been nothing near MVP level this year. Missed FTs late in the game, whining like crazy, outside shot looking like garbage, etc. To be honest he looks a lot like he did last year...very slow and lethargic at times. If it weren't for the heroics of the bench last night along with Elson's inspired play this thread wouldn't even exist right now.

Duncan won't be at MVP levels because the Spurs don't need him to be. I think if called upon to do so he COULD have an MVP season, but he's got his eyes on the big prize. Instead he's content to do only what he needs to do to help them win and stay rested and healthy for the le run. With the exception of his free throws he's been pretty damn good in the clutch in the close games this year on both ends of the floor, so the talent is still there when called upon.

    I think it's called a case of Horry-itis.

If Spurs run away in the West, and TD averages close to his current numbers, he could very well be MVP.

The only caveat? With all the preseason hype about Lebron. So, if Lebron's Cavs win division and are seeded 1st or 2nd, he might get the nod.

Lebron stays steady there's no question he'll get it no matter what.

TD will always have them pointing to Tony and Manu as excuses no matter what he does, and that is why he won't be considered seriously, which is sad but true.

Timmy may return (indeed may already be returned) to MVP level of play, but he will never recieve another MVP award. His time for that has past, and there are far to many (shinier, showier, newer, younger) up-and-comers who will get the MVP consideration attention.

LeBron is likely unless the Cavs really suck down the road. If Kobe can make the Lakers a top four team in the WC (highly unlikely), he'll have a chance at it. And, then there are guys like Dirk and Wade, if their teams win a lot of games, might get an edge over Duncan simply because Duncan won two already.
