Another win will be added to the franchise total, another calculation will be made — and the Spurs will replace the Boston Celtics as one of the top two in the NBA's all-time standings.Spurs alter orderThe change is remarkable because there rarely is one. The Celtics and Lakers have been either No. 1 or No. 2 in winning percentage among active franchises for about 20 years, and they would have held their positions longer if not for another late entry.
I can't wait to shout "we're number 2!"
Adidas should be chiming in any time now.
thats awesome. congrats to the Spurs organization for their consistency and ability to keep their team among the elite for so many years.
i still hate the Spurs though... but i have a deep respect for the organization and many players. I dont think i have more respect for any player in the NBA today than Tim Duncan. he has consistently won les and advanced far in the playoffs despite very average talent surrounding him.
whottt is about to go ape .

Rocking! Who would have thunk it after suffering through those lean days in a 1/2 full Hemisfair Arena when the Spurs where working toward David Robinson and Sean Elliott?
Well, if this is the new thread I'll at least repeat my work from the last one... No sense wasting the time.
Franchise Win % Since the Spurs Entered the NBA:
Lakers .654
Spurs .592
Suns .577
Blazers .568
Celtics .556
Jazz .548
Sixers .536
Pistons .532
Rockets .527
Bucks .514
Bulls .508
Knicks .506
how many more wins do we need to catch the fakers?
I might as well repeat my work, too:
I just went through and crunched the number legit and you are dead on...if we win at 70%(57.2 wins per year) and they keep winning at their historic rate of 61.5%(@50 wins)...
After 7 years we will trail them by an 8th of PCT point...and pass them during the season 8 years from now(or 7 if you include this season) to have a 64% winning pct.
Shoogar is brilliant...
Why don't one of you guys figure out if we passed them tonight?
Nope...
Celtics: 2774-1911 = .592102
Spurs: 1444-995 = .592046
But if both teams win their next games, the Spurs will still overtake Boston.

Well, when the article was written, the Celtics were 1-6... They've gone on a mad 3-game hot streak since then.
