For mobilizing the Republican base and turning America's attention off of President Bush's Presidency and onto themselves with their hyperbolic rhetoric.

What we have now is a high deficit President leading a flawed (and increasingly unpopular) war, while pushing controversial religious initiatives at home, who will be sworn in for his second term because his opponents, rather than discussing the issues with level heads, chose to focus on whether or not he was Satan Incarnate.

Rather than challenge the loyalty of conservative voters to President Bush with reasonable concerns on the issues, Kerry supporters in the media and on the streets helped to strengthen that loyalty with outlandish attacks on his character. They focused on things like the National Guard, Halliburton, and whether or not Bush "lied."

I believe this rallied conservatives in support of Bush, because the election was no longer about whether or not Bush had been wrong... instead, it was about how full of Liberals seemed to be.

How many people were originally unenthusiastic about a second term for Bush, but became more hopeful that Bush would win just so they could see people like Michael Moore fail? Many, in my estimation. Probably enough to swing the vote to Bush.

You can't attract undecideds by screaming in their faces. It's like the " fire and Brimstone" approach to Christian evangelism... it simply doesn't work. You have to attract people to your party, and you can't do that when you look more insane than the candidate you're trying to vote out of office.

For the benefit of the Democratic Party, and frankly for the good of the nation, it is important that moderate, level-headed Democrats take their party back from the lunatic fringe.

I don't dislike John Kerry but I cannot stand Michael Moore. I am glad his sorry ass was not vindicated.

    no .

That was the biggest thing that swayed me. I understand that not all republicans are innocent of spewing hate but it seemed to be overly done by the democrats.

    You know what really sucks?

Michael Moore is likely glad that Bush won because now he has something to criticize and idiots that will listen to him and pay to listen to him. If Kerry wins, he has no job. What is he going to do, create an anti-Kerry film and try to draw in Republican audiences? Criticize Bush as a former president? No one is going to pay to see that.

I really hate that bas .

Spurm pretty much hit a grandslam with this post.

But I don't necessarily think the Iraq war is wrong or that Bush is a bad President to have in this environment.

I also think that guys like Moore and Hollywood liberals rallied moderate liberals like myself to the conservative side. I'll stand with Bud Day on this one...not a fat, worthless, hypocritical, ambulance chasing like Michael Moore.

Let me also say that I don't believe the Bush campaign was handled ideally either. I think the Flip-Flop accusations got a bit overplayed, and Cheney's scare tactics were a bit overboard at times. But they did do a good job of separating themselves from the Swift Boat controversy, which I think was important.

And even though many of Bush's supporters didn't really have much to say for him besides "He's a good, honest man" and "He stands for what he believes in" and "He's strong on terrorism," their reasons for voting for Bush were always about Bush and seldom about who he was running against.

I think now that the election is over, you will in short time (as soon as Ramadan ends) see us tell the people of a few choice cities (like Fallujah and some others in the Sunni triangle) to

    * hand over the weapons
    * hand over the assholes (i.e., Zarqawi and Co.)

or we're gonna flatten the whole thing.

Don't forget that there was plenty of Kerry bashing from hatred spewing conservatives too.

I may have gotten served but I will not be forgotten!!

    That's is a great post...

I believe this rallied conservatives in support of Bush, because the election was no longer about whether or not Bush had been wrong... instead, it was about how full of Liberals seemed to be.
However, I also think it is accurate to say that plain ol' moral values played huge in this election, exit polls showed that.

Pure and utter bull . Moore, Rather, and other leftist did a great job bringing out the Democratic vote. If they hadn't, W's victory would have been even more clear-cut, but all the data shows that it was the white, christian, wealthy vote that helped put W over the top by showing up to vote at a 35% rate, up from 29% in 2004.

And I maintain that the wealthy white Christian vote was energized and influenced by those Leftists as well.

There are constructive and convincing ways to argue on behalf of Democratic plaforms. The sooner you guys figure out how to do it without leaning on shock-value terms like "liar" and "bigot," the better off you will be.

Dan....your leaders and "heros" are doing some soul searching this morning as to why the country is distancing themselves from this kind of thinking and I suggest you do the same. You are helping to destroy the Democratic party. You are a legend in your own mind. America has spoken. Open your eyes.

Dan doesn't realize that Rather and Moore did an even better job of mobilizing and recruiting for the right.

So the Demos had a strong GOTV effort and still lost. I wonder what your quantification of "wealthy" might be. I need a chuckle. Also, the fact that you seem to think those three descriptors are pejorative in nature says enough about your personal stupidity as well as why the party you support does not have control over the legislative and executive branches of the federal government.
