I don't know about the rest of you guys... but it seems that as a fan the Spurs games have seemed less and less exciting... a win after a win just doesn't seem to be enough.... We're conceited.

Anyone else feel that the games aren't as exciting because we expect a blowout all the time?

Ok... I can see the playoffs being exciting...let alone the finals.

But the Regular Season has seemed more and more boring as we expect a win every night... and we get mad if that doesn't happen.

Considering that the Spurs have only had like 6 or 7 losing seasons out of 30+ NBA Seasons, the regular season would become kinda boring.

But yeah, we're spoiled. Fans of other teams have gone through stretches of losing seasons. We've haven't gone through that in almost 20 years. And considering that the years that we stunk so bad we wound up landing Robinson and Duncan. Our organization has been rated at or near the top consistantly. We don't have any ego problems like on other teams. We have a well respected coach (not sure if this is true on this board, though). We've been le contenders almost 10 years running now, and counting, and we even have more les than some of the oldest franchises. With all these things considered, our expectations would be naturally high.

You know something, after typing all that, I can see why no one likes us.

regular season is boring except for a few games here and there. Playoffs are fun and celebrating a championship is unbelievably fun.

I was thinking the same thing as I watched the GS game last night. Did you see how they (players and fans) celebrated the win? They were so happy for something that has become commonplace for the Spurs. It was as if they just won game seven of the Championship. I too have fallen into the trap of a 20 point win is the only good win. The price of success, I guess.

Warriors haven't been out of the lottery in about a dozen years. So their excitement is understandable.

9 - 6 says they've won plenty of games this season, but obviously knocking off the Spurs convincingly, esp @GSW and w/o BD, is cause of great joy.

    Spurs suck

So many of the games are meaningless in themselves, devoid of effort and intensity. The only high-level constant is ticket prices.

The players, averaging $4M/year, more exposed and closer to the fans than any other major pro sport, very often don't seem to interested or enjoying themselves, why should the fans, aka suckers ?

Half of the teams won't make the playoffs, and of the 16 teams that do make the playoffs, 4 or 5 of them shouldn't be there. The top 16 NBA records should be in the playoffs, not the top 2 x 8 conference records.

(There was game the other night where it was pointed out that one team with a 5-6 record was leading its divison while its opponent with a 5-6 recod was at the bottom of its division. Ridiculous imbalance. )

Since it's a job, I think substantial $incentives for making the playoffs, advancing in each round, and winning the le. With the avg salary at $4M, I think the ac ulated playoff bonuses for winning a le should be $1M/player. Even that is low considering how many top-players make $75K+/game. Maybe the incentive should be a percenage, say 25%, of a player's salary. That way Tim and Tony will be as $motivated as Jackie and Eric. Ideally, you want the 13th-15th men to contribute like "Rudy" of Notre Dame.

The common at ude here: the regular season don't mean , win or lose (epitomized by our dearly beloved t_pork), so conserve yourself in the season, just make the playoffs, and then start to make an effort.

A league of 30 teams dilutes the player talent per team, and there aren't 30 NBA coaches and GMs worthy of the le. There aren't 30 owners who give enough of a .

It's bad enough that injuries are so influential, but 82 games for 5 months requires about 15 - 20 B2B per team, which gives you crappy games where fatigue determines the winner rather than the quality of play.

I actually like close games. I hate blowouts. I think this season is going pretty good so far. Everyone's playing well.

I expect the Spurs to "beat the crap" out of bad teams and "hold their own" against the elite teams of the league - unless of course, they're playing the 2nd game of a B2B.

Seriously, I found myself excited and intensely focused on that Mavs game because those games are "STATEMENT GAMES" that indicate what type of team you have.

It's hard to get excited about the regular season because individual games don't matter. Any last vestige of interest I had about regular-season record was extinguished by their going 63-19 last year and losing in the second round. As long as they win 55-60 games, it really doesn't make any difference what happens, even if they only get the #2 or #3 seed, because obviously they can win on the road. The only thing that matters is surviving with as little wear and tear as possible.

I expect a win every night. I know it's not realistic but the games are still exciting whether or not some Latvian center blocks Duncan's shot 6 or 7 times in a half.

I still had some of my most fun at games, when the spurs lost David and Sean to an injury. It was great to see Dominique and Williams run the team.
