I've always seen these stats before, but was never really interested in them. I am now, and would like some help from you

    1. Team Rebounds - 2 -> What's a team rebound?

    2. Points Off Turnovers - 18 -> Is that the number of points scored off turnovers, or the number conceded to the opponent?

    3. Fastbreak Points - 13 -> I believe this is the number of points scored off fast breaks, but just need a confirmation :p I'm mostly asking because tonight, the spurs had 13, while the kings only had 11!

Also, due to playing basketball in a French speaking environment, I don't really understand some of the terms used in the NBA.

Where are the Low & High Posts? My general understanding is that they're in the key, and that one means near the FT line, while the other is beneath the basket, but I'm not sure which is which.

Curious: Is the word "post" being used as "position"; or are they talking about the basket's post?

Last question is if anyone has a link to a good webpage explaining basketball terms, techniques, etc., I'd be grateful if they could post them here.

    Thanks!

    1. Team rebound - when the ball goes out of bounds with no one in possession (say team A shoots, goes off rim, touches team A on the way out of bounds, it will be a team rebound for team B).

    2. Points scored off TOs.

    3. You're right.

High post - FT line area, low post down on the block.

Post is a position, i.e. Tim is a post player.

Team rebounds are rebounds that aren't charged to individuals, such as the ball hitting the rim and going out of bounds, etc.

Points off of turnovers is exactly what it means, you score right after a turnover, within the next 24 second position, I believe.

Fastbreak points are points in transition or fast breaks.

Low post is the area around the basket, high post is the freethrow line and above area.

    Post is position.

Thanks Sequ & Aggie! Any nice links?

Hmm maybe what I'm looking for is a coaching page or something... A page that I can read to increase my knowledge of basketball techniques and improve my game?

Thanks! Amazing site... I was coming back to post a link to this site myself

There's a great article here for people interested in understanding rules, positions, and lots of other links to basketball plays, techniques and what not.

Edit: Hey Sequ, I use google everyday myself when searching for programming white papers & articles, but I was lazy :p Anyway, I've noticed that fan pages are usually given lower ranking compared to professional websites by google, so I thought some of you could have found 'secret' pages with valuable info...
