Do yall still like having Finley? I'm not trying to rub it in anyone's face, just asking. Towards the end of last year, i remember saying on this forum that the Mavs felt Findog was expendable for a reason and that eventually it would manifest itself. I'll admit, he probably was your third or fourth best player last year in the playoffs, but the Finley you see now is the one we thought would come out. He is strictly a jump shooter who, when his shot isn't on, practically disappears.

Do you think the Spurs are asking/expecting too much from him, or do you think he's still a great fit if used correctly?

Btw, I love the rivalry we've got goin. I'm trying to come down for the game on Jan 5th, i think it's gonna be great.

    Oh... and GO JAZZ!

You do remember how much we are paying Finley right?

You do remember that he was the only Spur last year that seemed to give a about beating the Mavs right?

You do remember he won like five or six games for us last year right?

I'm not worried about Finley at all this early in the year...

You do remember i said he was your best player behind your 3 stars last year in the playoffs, right?

And yes, i'm quite aware that the Mavs are still paying him more than the Spurs are.

But I do see a lot of complaining about Finley on this forum and wanted to ask that question.

You won't see any complaining from any intelligent posters here, just the trolls...

We are playing fine, and the same guy doesn't have to step up every night, just so long as someone does...

Just like some Mavs fans complain about Stack, there will be some Spurs fans complaining about Finley and they won't remember the good things about these ballers. They both still have good game left in them but there will always be ignorant fans.

My comments from another post regarding Finley

Why not here? That's all I'm saying. This guy probably wouldn't have cost no more than the $1 mil that Finley is currently receiving.

It's all about production. Finley isn't producing and, after a fine playoff series versus the Mavericks, he has seemingly morphed back into that "one-trick pony" version that I saw playing for Dallas the last 3-4 years. I'm not saying he's not a hard worker or even a psuedo-team leader, but his best days are clearly behind him.

I really like having Finley now considering Manu is banged up and could be potentially be banged up during certain parts of the season. Finley can still play 30 minutes and his defense has picked up considerably. I can't think of a team that wouldn't want Finley besides the Mavericks to be honest.

Make no mistake, Finley can be a valuable contributor to the Spurs. However as an older player, he no longer attacks the rim with regularity and rarely gets into the paint. He's still a proflic 3-pt shooting when he's on and a clutch FT shooter as well.

However because of this transformation, his game has been reduced primarily to that of a "stand-still jump shot" mode. As such, he can ill-afford to go through periods of prolonged slumps.

This is something that Mavs fans (and they can certainly speak up about this) have complained about him for several years.

Yes. I always liked Mike. When he was in Dallas, I wanted that he someday becomes a Spur. And if he will play like against the Warriors we will have more chances to win the championships.

I absolutely loved the version of Finley that we saw versus Dallas. That angry, motivated player who attacked the opposition from both inside and outside.

    Fin-dog, where have you gone?

Finley didn't do until All-Star break last year. I don't expect anything else this year, I just don't know why Pop is playing him so much.

Finlay is (will be) OK, Pop is just giving him too much PT.

I couldn't disagree more. I think more playing time would get him into a rhythm for the potential post-season. I'm not saying 20-30 mins a game, but riding the pine won't do any good for him.

What does the money we are paying him have to do w/it?? he should still play like the star we thought he was.

You do remember that he was the only Spur last year that seemed to give a about beating the Mavs right?
He both appeared and dissapeared in the Dallas series

Are you talking about regular season? so what?

you must not have been worried about VanX last year either.

truth is Finley is sucking big balls for the minutes he's getting. Barry is outplaying him in every aspect. VanX last year taught us a good lesson, let's hope Pop has learned it.

I bet Michael is suffering as much as we are disappointed.

Michael is so spooked, he looked to pass in the last play of the Mavs loss rather than try to be "Mega Shot Mike".

Have to give Pop credit for his generosity in minutes for Michael.

NVE was hurt, fat, and unfixable, Michael is just in a slump, which will end.

Just want him to attack the ring more and maybe dish some assists or get some rebounds. You cant go around missing jumpshots all day

If Finley were playing for the Spurs for free, he'd still owe the team a refund.

At this point in his career, he's a worthless piece of .

Don't you think the Mavs would've hung onto him if he had anything left in the tank.

Spurs are suckers for acquiring him and NVE in the same offseason.
