No thanks.
I don't think they want that contract.
Hi all...1st post but long time lurker & Spurs fan. Stuck here in LA so I live vicariously thru this forum.
With all the buzz going on in Chicago.....just wondering what you think Pop/RC would give up to get Big Ben in Alamo. Just imagine TD, Wallace and Bowen as our staring frontcourt.![]()
No thanks.
I don't think they want that contract.
I can't imagine a deal for anyone with a contract that large that would not require one of the big three (Manu, Tony and Tim) just to match salary.
Nothing. Awful contract deep into his dotage. He looks more and more like a coach killer, too. We can't afford any more dead spots in the offensive rotation, anyway.
That contract is huge and only gets bigger, while Ben won't get better.
Hmm, Manu has been playing like recently...
LOL
I was thinking the same....Bulls do need scoring
I agree it won't happen, but if Chicago wanted to rid themselves of his contract, theoretically the Spurs could absorb it without breaking up their core. He makes about 16M, which means the Spurs would have to send about 12.72M in salaries, which is about what Brent, Eric Williams, Elson / Oberto and Beno make. Not that they'd go for it, but if they were desperate enough to rid themselves of him, the Spurs could put together a package (which would have to include other incentives, such as picks, draft rights, and money considerations) worth considering. And regardless of Ben being worth the last 2 years of his contract, with him the Spurs would have two more championship banners in two year's time. Again, a long shot if I ever saw one, but...
What's Scola's rights worth??? Barry won't work cause he wears a headband...maybe after his noggins heals.
For salary matching? What's Scola's rights worth???
$0.00
Id rather get in this order
Nocioni
Hinrich
Gordon
Deng
3 against 5 offensively isn't so smart.
Maybe a bit better than you'd think when they can't score a damn point on you, and you have Timmy, Manu and Tony on your team to take care of the offense.
big ben + TD = two help defenders. we neeed somebody who can defend on ball better (even tho ben is a great on ball defender in his own right).
Hmm, Manu has been playing like recently...
LOL
Throw in Scola and then Chicago would have Team Argentina again![]()
Ben's function on the offensive end wouldn't be much different then Fab. No need to run plays...but rebound and garbage shots.
Free throws would be a major problem though.
Wallace would have to throw in at least 30 million in cash to make that even plausible.
Unfortunately, he doesn't accept that role anymore. One of the reasons he chafed at Flip last year was because that was what was expected, and he wanted more touches. Ridiculous, I know.
Ben is not a great on ball defender he is a great weak side help defender. Sheed is a great man on defender that's why he plays Tim not Ben. You guys don't need an overpriced big headed Ben.
Not a ing thing.just wondering what you think Pop/RC would give up to get Big Ben in Alamo.
As if Tim doesn't get doubled enough already...Just imagine TD, Wallace and Bowen as our staring frontcourt.
no.
The only reason for SPURS to trade for big ben is when the deal is package with the NY pick (a 25% chance to get Greg Oden)
Actually, Brent Barry, Francisco Elson, Jackie Butler, and Eric Williams' contract would be enough to match salaries. Spurs could throw in either James White or a future draft pick to make it more enticing. If things continue to go bad in Chicago, perhaps they consider just dumping Ben's contract for something like that. Now, the question is whether it would be prudent for the Spurs to do it. I'd say no, even though I suspect Ben on the Spurs would be more effective and much more energized playing alongside Tim than he is with the Bulls. His contract, regardless of the fact that it's front loaded, is still horrible.
that would leave how many (or few) on our roster and how many holes? no, thanks.
