"The Big Show has on Gary Danielson"

I am a huge UM fan but I too thought that Florida deserved the shot over UM. However, Danielson went at it like a total idiot.

    Take a listen

Great, now each network will campaign even harder for their respective conferences.

Danielson has always been a smarmy asshole. And that wasn't a blow up, just Gary being himself.

He would rather have Louisville and Oklahoma play Ohio State over Michigan.

dude is exactly right, his logic is infallible. i, honestly, don't see how anybody can make a logical argument against him. how the does anybody KNOW michigan is better than florida?....the answer is they don't. people get too caught up in what the media tells them...and michigan fans bought into all the love the media gave, and then is now whining, for as quick as that love came...its now gone. there wasn't any substance there to begin with, people.

    michigan fan,
show me how michigan is better than florida? where? btw, if ohio state beats florida...so what, that doesn't mean michigan is better than florida....we will never know.

His logic is far from infallible. He says there's no way to know who the no. 2 team in the country is. That much I agree with him. But, then he says Florida deserves it more than Michigan because Michigan had its chance.

But, that's not the point of the BCS. The point is to determine the two best teams in the country and put them in the le game.

If you believe Florida is the second best team in the country, that's fine. If you vote for Florida because Michigan had its chance, that's not voting for the second best team in the country.

Also, there hasn't been nearly as much complaining in Michigan about not going to the le game as Gary makes it out to be. Just because people talk about it, it doesn't mean there's a lot of people in an uproar. Most people understand that it's a system flaw and accept how it is. Upset? Yeah, of course. Complaining to the extent Danielson makes it out to be? Not even close.

Judging by the mul ude of Michigan people here, I think the whole "UM fans whining" stereotype is ridiculous.

Are we happy? No. But its the BCS, wtf are we going to do about it? Nothing.

I havent seen one post that went all homer-bias for UM to go here. Nor have I around the water-cooler or the local papers. Where is it?

Turn on 1270 or 1130. If you are in the AA area turn on 1050. It is ridiculous how many people are ing with their "we are Michigan" crap.

I consider myself a big Michigan fan and due to work I am around the football and basketball program quite a bit. However, I feel that Florida still deserved the shot over Michigan.

I dont really want to get into it again because it seems like all I have been doing the past week is saying the BCS finally got it right. I wrote a blog about it over on www.cfbmedia.com if you're intrested in my two cents.

Bottom line is that Michigan had their shot. Now, with that being said Danielson used his position as a broadcaster to politic for Florida which I felt was out of line.

    few things:

    1. yes, i agree, the BCS did finally get it right
    2. i don't think Danielson was campaigning for florida...anybody who feels that way either a) wasn't listening closely b) thinks he is lying....imo, nothing he said was campaigning for florida, just campaigning for another team than michigan (florida just happens to be there)
    3. i like how everyone keeps saying the BCS is suppose to put the #1 & #2 team together not put some team in there b/c they have not had their chance...SHUT UP already. that is the dumbest damn argument i keep hearing. in THIS situation there is no difference between the two. its simple, you can argue florida or michigan is better and both sides may have a compelling arguments...great...what we do know is that michigan already lost to ohio state, one could then say ohio state is better than michigan. has florida played ohio state? do we even know that ohio state is better than florida? maybe the big 10 has been overrated all year? who did ohio state beat outside of conference that was impressive...t.u.? hardly the juggernaut they (t.u.) were last year

...its as clear as day, and the BCS saw the light.

I did not like how Danielson handled it on the air during the Florida game. Then I didnt like how he came on DETROIT AIR-WAVES and said on TWO DIFFERENT SPORTS STATIONS that he feels he needs to stick up for the SEC because ABC-ESPN shoves USC, ND, and the Big 10 down our throats. In saying that he exposed himself has having a clear agenda. To me that is bull and not his place as a commentator of a game to do so.

i see. however, i look at it like this: i agree that ESPN shoves the Big 10, ND, and USC down our throats. there is no doubt in my mind about it...in fact its downright shameful. and i don't have a problem with Danielson sticking up for the SEC, i just don't. if he was strictly pimping florida then i would have a problem with it, but he wasn't...he was just pimping the SEC.

btw, anybody who can't see that ESPN had an agenda with michigan and USC is blind. it was amazing all the crap they were spewing...even as a Trojan fan i was disgusted.

I will start this off by saying again that I feel that Florida deserved to play against Ohio State.

However, if you watched Florida play this year apposed to Michigan play this year, the old eye ball test. Michigan appears to be a better team.

The last few years ESPN has shoved USC down our throat...and they should have...SC has been amazing. ESPN has to appeal to the masses and the fact of the matter is that Ohio State, USC, Michigan, Notre Dame sell and attract an audience.

...if you look around this forum, i think you'll find i prop up USC quite a bit. but that doesn't mean ESPN needs to spoon feed it to us, though i know why they do and will continue. but thats another issue with me...i despise a majority of the media, their shoddy work, bias, and the sheep that lap their crap up. pathetic.

anyway, thats the problem...you can't eye ball anything. the eye ball test is meaningless when comparing teams that are very good. did ohio state beat miami a few years back? did t.u. beat SC last year? list goes on and on....i am much more interested in the play on the field.

I can't stand the amount of crap ESPN shoves down our throats in basketball and football coverage. It amazes me how they'll ignore any other good college basketball matchups on a day because those teams aren't on ESPN or aren't part of the ACC/Big 10 challenge that is mainly an ACC domination every year.

I'm really surprised they didn't advertise the Michigan-Ohio State game this year that much... you'd really expect them to have round-the-clock coverage, analysis, and a countdown on the ticker during Sportscenter... someone really dropped the ball on that one - I almost missed the game.

It's the same thing for the NBA - TNT will often give an update during its broadcasts of upcoming nationally televised games and will include ESPN/ABC games in those updates, but ESPN will only advertise those games that show up on NBA TV, and ABC/ESPN. That really pisses me off because ESPN used to be a tiny network that was dedicated to sports coverage in all forms, but now it's just become another piece of a large conglomerate and devolved into an endless stream of "analysis" by washed up stars and talking heads (Stephen A.).
