What do you want a regular XBox for? If you don't want to pay $400 for a system, that's understandable, but if it's just to play some of the XBox's amazing library, almost all of them are flawless on X360. For instance, Halo 2 looks great in 720p on an X360. The only big le with no X360 version I can think of that isn't supported by X360 is Scarface.

If you find one, check Halo and Halo 2. Halo's a $20 value le, and Halo 2 is $30 (as opposed to the normal $40 for XBox games), and they're by far the two best games on XBox (and easily two of the greatest games ever made).

I forgot the XBox 360 core system goes for $300, and is the same as the $400 system except for having no hard drive, no HD cables, and a wired controller instead of the wireless one. Still, you'd have to buy a memory card then ($30 or so), and your sister's kids would be limited to XBox 360 games ($60 each), since the hard drive is required for the XBox emulator.

PS2 is $129.99 right now in stores, and easy to find. There's tons of great games for it (way more than XBox), and it's probably the better system unless your sister's kids are into Halo.

i need to agree with this. ps2's are easy to find these days. still, very effective.

That's a of a deal. Lot's of really good games on that list (Half Life, Ninja Gaiden, and COD 2 are my personal favs on it, and GRAW, Marvel, Doom 3, and Mortal Kombat are great les to).
