if big baby gets "the treatment" forget about beating lsu. A&M, obviously, was much more effective today against a better ucla team when their bigs were not collecting ridiculous fouls. well, that and Law showed up...
Rematch. LSU owned the now half-gutless aggs, and will most likely own us too. I like the heart AJ Abrams brings to the table but without him going awol beyond the arc, our offense looks really bad.
DJ Augustin still hasn't settled down and run a smooth offense, we had most our good opportunities when AJ was runnin the point against Gonzaga.
Does Big Baby still weigh 345 pounds? Someone told me he has slimmed down alot but when I saw him pound the aggs he looked the same to me.![]()
Either way it wont be good for UT. They look very confused and just pass the ball around the arc when teams mix up zone defenses like Gonzaga did. Hopefully we see some Fast Durant Action though. His savviness alone caught us to within 3 against the zags, but that white dude was stone cold killah in that game and sank more threes.

Yeah i was dissapointed with Law's performance against LSU, he's probably my favorite Agg. But was it due to LSU perimeter D or him being inconsistent like he has his entire career?
Doesn't Big Baby always get the treatment?
I think he even got it against Duke last year.
Oh yeah, it will make his NBA career pitfall that much more satisfactory...
you guys sound like mavs fans after the finals. pull up your britches.
No surprise - (somewhat) neutral court gets rid of the Big Baby bias and therefore he only has 3 pts and actually picked up a charge in the first half.
Conner Atchley actually guarded big baby decent, rebounded well, and hit timely threes. he had two chances to win this game for us, but in the end, our zone defense totally snubbed LSU and DJ Augustin was playing out of this world. Even with the rookie mistakes, against a better rebounding team, against a more seasoned team, we pulled it out.
Great win by the horns.![]()
congrats! big win for t.u.. i'd rather have lsu beat t.u., of course, but i always like our old rival to lose as well. can't wait to play t.u. in conference...
That was a beautiful win.... too bad I didn't get to see it.![]()
Damn! We actually showed some guts and determination in beating LSU. And God help you if you let Abrams spot up from 3 point range, that kid is a stone cold killer from out there. I think this was a real wake up game for us, we have a very young team that finally found out tonight what it takes to compete and win at a high level of play. In previous games against Gonzaga and Michigan St. when faced with adverstiy we just couldn't answer the call. Against LSU we finally nutted up and showed we wanted to play and win.
Great game from Augustin, and good to see D. James finally show up with some solid play. I was hoping we could win a game like this before conference play started. Still have tough non-conference games against Arkansas and Tennessee.
Glad I kept flipping between this game and the Cowboys game.No..I really did. Augustine is a beast.
It's difficult for me to provide allegiance being an Aggie fan, but how we got screwed by the officiating in Baton Rouge, it was nice to see you guys make Big Baby cry.... now I can go back to hating you come conference time.
^Hey, he was getting some questionable calls in our game as well. A few times he was just throwing elbows around and spinning into the lane out of control, didn't get called for . Oh well, LSU can suck on my nuts at this point.
As for a&m, I watched the game you guys played against UCLA, I think a&m will have a very strong team and should have a great shot at winning the Big XII. My only real criticism from that game is that a&m seems almost too willing to slow down their offensive pace at times when they obviously have the athletes to get up and down the floor. I'm not saying they need to turn into some kind of run-n-gun team, but when you have opportunities for fast break points or to push the pace and put the other guys on their heels, go for it.
There was really only one big botched call, it was when we were up 1 point and james finally got a rebound amongst the lsu rebounding machine, only to get elbowed in the face and have the ball stolen from him for an easy big baby tip in....if it werent for that play we would have won in regulation.
Proud of the team after last night. They put a hurtin on a really good LSU team.
Both you guys are making good points - Big Baby did start to get his typical "treatment" once Brady worked the refs some, but that constant sour-puss look on his face was priceless. If you guys had seen the A&M-LSU game, you would be even more thankful that he only got away with a few of those since he got away with it the whole game against us and also got 3 of our big men in foul trouble with 3 apiece in the first half...
Ballcox - good point - when they went on that 7-game run in the Big 12 and beat Syracuse in the tourney, they were running a faster-paced offensive attack... if they want to run this half court set all the time and control clock, then they need to work on post-entry passes about 90% of the time in practice - for two years that has been the achilles heel in the offensive game... secondly, they kept slowing it down when they were down 12 against LSU and then had to work frantically to get back in that game - only to fall short.
I thought the Horns were going to get worked.....glad to see I was wrong.![]()
durant didn't score too much, but i flipped to the game and caught that sick dunk he had in the first half driving from the three point line. dude has serious hops.
I wonder how good this team can be once all the kids get some time in the system together come tourney time.
by that time some of them will be in the pros. NBA should have a two year rule.
One thing i noticed from this game was that number 24 (still not used to all the new names) has very horrible dribbling skills, and is a turnover waiting to happen. He is a great hustler on defense, great speed, but i'd like to see him vary it up a little instead of chunking a clanker three, or dribbling left to right with no real ball movement.
James is also very fast for his position, will be great when him durant augustin and the baby all get in sync for some fast transition action.
Our team speed has to be among the elite though. The question is can we utilize it efficiently and consistently come tournament time.
^ #24 is J. Mason, another one of our freshmen from Amarillo. Like to see him wearing Royal Ivey's old number, maybe he can become that hustle guy and shutdown defender that Royal used to be. Damn that was a good rotation with him, Mouton and TJ in the backcourt, miss those days!
Can you imagine a team with LaMarcus Aldridge at Center, PJ Tucker at PF, Durant at SF, Mouton at SG, and Ford at PG?
Or how bout Aldridge, James Thomas, Tucker, Durant, and Ford?
