    Yup

Another Tim Duncan thread, you can go fed.

But how it is interesting looking at his stats and claim he is one of the best in history

He was a real good rebounder all career long - now he is rebounding 2 balls per quarter.
Kidd is better in that aspect rebounding 8.7 in December.

It is so good that january haven't started yet, hopefully he can dig himself out.

What is also interesting is his FT%
    56% at home
70% at road games (is it more of a mental thing other then techique)

Tim is not a shotblocker anymore. More athletic and faster players are fooling him. (about 1.8blk/game)

Anybody else got some statistical sights?

What does it tell you about our TEAM that Duncan can get that and we can still be 21-7? I'd love to be 28-0 at this point but even if Duncan got 35/12 each game we wouldn't be much better than we are now, except maybe 5 losses instead of 7.

What other superstar can get those stats and have their team lay claim to the best NBA record?

I want him to have killer stats and make a real presence with the numbers as well but I want to have a winning record more-so.

In December, the Spurs have had a lot of blowouts - which means less minutes for Tim. He is only playing 32 mpg in the month. In December, he's shooting 57% from the floor and averaging 3.5 assists. On the season, he's shooting 8% points higher than he did last year. There are positives in his game.

Sure, I know there's games where he isn't rebounding well or making a great effort on defense, but he's not as bad as you are trying to make him out to be.

    Merry Christmas.

Yup Kori but he is playing 3 minutes less then in November.
And he is averageing 3.5 ass/g for whole season.

And I'm not trying to make him look bad

Just some observations I wanted to share and I'm interested in yours.

The good thing is that he is shooting in better FG percentanage, and I wonder if it's a new ball influence or Timmy is more efective shooting it or when he is shooting less he is more efective

The bad thing is that we never gonna get an answer to that cause there is just to many ups and downs.

Another factor to Timmy rebounding less is this .. Teams are shooting a higher percentage against the Spurs. The Spurs are also shooting a higher percentage from the floor than they usually do (for example in Dec they are shooting 51% as a team). More made shots = Less rebounding opportunities.

    Remember the 2005?
The spurs defens was about letting other team shoot from the midrange. I don't know why and when it changed. Is it just about the rules?
Could someone explain this years spurs defense? I saw 4 spurs games and this is not enough to get a good view to the game.

Jeez the times when the stellar defense was the priority has ended but man how I love that kind of defense...

Defense is still the Spurs number 1 priority, they just know they don't have the same personnel to pull it off as well. I don't think anything changed out the defensive scheme this year. It's just the players have to rotate properly. When Elson doesn't rotate, or Oberto is too slow on D, then the Spurs wings anticipate that and get out of place themselves. It's not going to be one of the best defensive teams, but I think it's going to end up being a lot better than it has been in some games this season.

Yup you can fill in quite well

Chump - sometimes it's about new words new idioms

Kori - yes, but as a look at the persnel, not much has changed since 2005. rasho was bearly playing that year (wasn't playing in the playoffs) nazr was not that good of a position defensive player.
But we had Horry and better Bruce. (Tony and manu haven't changed much).

That was a dificulty in last years playoffs when you had to rotate such players like Barry or Finley who couldn't do that as quick as they should making Dallas more opurtunities to move the ball and execute at will.
So maybe spurs just needed a interion presents and quickness. In one word ATHLETIC.

Well I now the basketball game is not just about one aspect, but the interior D IMO is the most important thing. Not just because we need more boards but we need a threat who could stop the penetrators as the permieter defenders can't defend as well as they could with previous rules. Plus it would be great to have a sevenfooter being able to rotate on P&R like the swings.

Yup dreaming dreaming. And every team got the holes in their systems (teams). But if you want to win a championship you can't be bad in one of the most (if not the most ) important aspects.

They have athletic and very quick in Elson. He just isn't a good defender (yet?).

That's the only real issue that's worrying IMO.
This could really hurt the Spurs during close games in the playoffs. Tim missed a lot of FT at the end of games recently, and I see more hack-a-TIM plays coming in the future.

It could even change the plays Pop calls at the end of games, giving the ball to Manu or Tony.

Up here in the northeast, where they play fairly good basketball in high school and college, everyone thinks the suns sets and rises on Tim Duncan. When I mention being a Spurs fan, inevitably they all say, "Tim Duncan, huh?"

I heard one of the announcers say the other day "Would you believe Tim Duncan is only 30 years old? What a great future the Spurs and city of San Antonio have for at least another 5 years."

When all is set and done, he'll be in the hall and so will the Spurs. Stop criticizing him for being human. There isn't a game that he doesn't flash his greatness right before our eyes.

I don't know what the happend with Spurs basketball.
Tim shoots 10 times per game. Is that normal?
Parker, Manu, Finley and even Bowen are shoting more than he is.
I watched a lot of games this year and it looks like Tim is the 5 option in offense. He starts to make some shots only if we are losing by 15 or more. It looks like TP is now the best player in the team.
I just want that Tim starts playing like the leader of this team.

    P.S. POP SUCKS!

Tim is shooting 14 times a game, which is just one less shot attempt than last year. But he's also getting to the freethrow line more often than he's gotten to the line since the 03-04 season. So that would indicate he's still handling the ball quite a bit. Tony averages almost 15 shots per game and Manu averages over 13 shots per game. Finley and Bowen probably average less than six shots a game.

However, I too wish he'd get more field attempts per game, especially since his field goal percentage is so high.

That's right. He's got a 56,2% shot, thats 8% better than last year.

Duncan's stats suck, and they're only gonna get worse as he gets older. He had his worst statistical season two years ago only to be followed by last year - aka: his worst season to-date.

    (2006 season)
    career lows:
    18.6 ppg
    11.0 rpg
    2.0 blocks
    .484 fg%
didn't lead the team in scoring (3rd)

BUTTTTT, what pissed you off more: Tim's worst reg. season OR Tim going 32.3 ppg 11.7 rebs 3.7 assists including 41 pts 15 rebs and 6 assists in game 7 against the Mavs and LOSING?

Are you surprised that last year was his worst statistical season considering his plantar fasciitis?

    (2006 season)
    ...
didn't lead the team in scoring (3rd)
?? He was second in scoring, barely behind Tony (18.9 to 18.6).

just wait til the playoffs and the real Timmy comes out. You'll see how useful he is when teams start clamping down on the perimiter Js.
