Given that Artest for Maggette works straight up, all of the other parts of the trade seem pointless to LA and Ramento.
Three team trade involving the Spurs, Clips, and Kings
Spurs send Beno to the Kings for Jason Hart, Barry and Scola to the Clips for Tim Thomas
Kings send Artest to the Clips for Maggette
So:
Spurs lose Beno, Barry and rights to Scola
for
Tim Thomas-3 point threat, gave Dirk some trouble in the playoffs and Jason Hart to rotate in at point
Kings lose Jason Hart and Ron Artest for Beno and Maggette
Clips lose Thomas and Maggette for Barry, Scola and Artest
Your thoughts?
Given that Artest for Maggette works straight up, all of the other parts of the trade seem pointless to LA and Ramento.
Go back to bed, Manu. You need to rest up for tomorrow.
Didn't the Jason Hart experiment fail?
Why do we need two Jacque Vaughns?
A trade for Tim Thomas ?![]()
What's next : a Spurs should tank for Oden thread ?
Good lord. Brent Barry is twice as valuable as Tim Thomas.
Tim Thomas is having a horrible season, which is par for him after signing a big contract. I'd much rather have Udrih than Jason Hart also. Hart shares all of Beno's problems with bringing the ball up the court against pressure (remember the 8-second call against LA in 2003?), without having his jumper.
I remember when timvp hated on Jason Hart back in the day and Spurs fans acted as if he was disgracing the Alamo. The guy sucks and you ask any Kings fan and they'd gladly give him away for nothing.
And yeah, this trade would never happen.
Tim Thomas vs. Dirk in the playoffs was a of a battle. I'd love to get him for that alone.
I like the idea of having a tall shooter than can play the 3, like Tim Thomas. But I wouldn't even consider trading Barry at this moment. I would say, trade Beno, rights to Scola and rights to one of the other players we have stashed overseas. Oberto and Elson have been solid and everyone else is either still learning or already solid in the system
No one wants Scola. No one wants Beno. Spurs are not trading Barry.
Get that through your ing heads.
You'd be surprised; every GM thinks differently. Take Thomas from NY for example
Barry is this year's version of Kerr.... He finally has started to play like we know he can.
Outside of Duncan, Parker and Manu, all of the Spurs suck.
the other day you wanted to trade manu
Tim Thomas is a good 3 point threat, but that was it. And as I recalled, after he hit some 3s, he tried to punk Dirk, but ultimately got his ass punked by Dirk dropping 50, with ease. Either way, hes a poor defender, a poor free throw shooter, and a poor rebounder. I don't think he would be that great of a fit with the Spurs.
i remember dirk trying to punk an exercise bike, how'd that turn out?
Trade Scenario:
Barry + cash for exercise bike.
2 out of 3 ain't bad but the spurs traded barry last year, it just so happens that trade was a few minutes after the deadline. I for one love Barry and want him to stay here but his name has come up as trade bait for maggette, not saying that'll happen but where there's smoke there's fire. Ask Malik and Rasho. If the spurs can find a good deal for Barry then i'm afraid he's gone.
At this point, I'd rather play Eric Williams more than get Tim Thomas.
On that, we can agree Chump!
Agreed, Tim Thomas looked great in the playoffs last year. But so far hes been exceedingly underwhelming.
