I know this is Gregg Popovich we're dealing with but is there a logical reason why Brent Barry can't be used as our backup point guard?

Beno Udrih is a NBA player to one person- Gregg Popovich. To everyone else with a positive IQ and an average understanding of the game of basketball, he's a waterboy at best.

Meanwhile Barry sits collecting dust while Udrih is allowed to shoot 30% and play with about as much passion and energy as Terry Schiavo (or Tim Duncan lately).

Barry is taller than Udrih, faster than Udrih, tougher than Udrih, a better shooter than Udrih, takes better control of the ball than Udrih and pushes the tempo better than Udrih.

Yet Pop just refuses to even try it........

I'd rather have Barry playing the point and then a zone defense. I think that would work.

Barry is too slow to guard shooting guards. I don't even want to see what would happen if he had to guard point guards full-time.

Beno > Barry at defending point guards ... by far.

Barry is a natural 2. He can run with the ball yes, but he's more effective at the 2. Beno is just out there to setup plays.
