LOS ANGELES — "The O.C.," the once-hot teenage soap opera that saw its ratings plummet like a delinquent student's grades, has been canceled.
The final episode of the drama will air 9 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 22, FOX TV and Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. said Wednesday.
The finale "will deliver real closure to the series, to the story we began telling four years ago," series creator Josh Schwartz said in a statement. "It will be fun and emotional and I think really satisfying. It is the finale we always planned to do."
Based in the affluent Orange County, Calif., city of Newport Beach, "The O.C." caught fire in its first season, 2003-04, as the top-rated drama among advertiser-favored young adults and with a total audience of nearly 10 million.
The show's story lines revolved around Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie), an outsider thrust into a heady new world of money and sex, and rich high school kids including Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) and Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) and their families.
oh noes! Now how will I learn about pretty rich kids with problems?
watch any number of the MTV shows about it?![]()
about damn time.
I stopped watching after the first season when they changed days and times. The thing that killed the show was knocking off Marissa.
You know how I know you're gay?
You're right, I haven't seen it. I gave up long ago on watching anything the Fox puts out on primetime, because regardless how good the show/ratings are, they'll bump it mid-season for bull baseball playoffs/"When bears in the woods"/or any other reason the chimps in programming feel the need to "tweak" the schedule.
/Still pissed they cancelled "Fastlane"
//Tiffani Thiessen is uber-hot
I think that Americans got hooked watching to see if Peter Gallagher would randomly fall over from the immense weight of his eyebrows. After a few years of it not happening they got frustrated and left in droves.
Horrors.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Am I the only one who still watched it?
It was actually getting pretty good this season.![]()
YES! finally.
now all we have to do is trash Laguna beach
lmao, ur talking about the dad right?
That show was crap! The only decent actor of the bunch was Peter Gallagher, and even he's not that good. Mischa Barton SUCKS at acting, just awful. The only reason I can imagine people watched that show so much was for the eye candy. This is good news people!
I wish Fox would cancel all of their shows, and play 24 every night
I think I stopped watching it midway through the second season. The break for the World Series always killed it for me. But, killinf Marissa was the worst.
they killed marissa? lmao!!
Everybody praise the Lord and let's sing in hymn.
Joy to the World...........
