Spurs 97 - 96 Mavs.
If we lose I will hang myself.
where's all the support? we beginning to look and sound like MAV fans....(only when they win)
GO SPURS kick some pony butt!!
i want the spurs to win...but, the cynical part of me wants them to lose. it would force everyone on the team to look in the mirror and face their biggest enemy, themselves. once they hold themselves accountable, i think that things will change. right now, all we get is lip service. Pop calling out the team doesn't work anymore which means that players may be tuning him out. i just don't know what else will get this team focused and motivated other than a little adversity or maybe a trade or 2.
The Mavs had a tough game last night against the Pacers -- win #12 in a row. The players which had been traded between the teams attempted to prove that they are skilled and exerted maximum effort.
The Spurs rested last night and will not be travelling. The Spurs should win tonight. However, Dallas is 7-0 this year on the second night of back-to-back games. Can they make it 8-0?
The Spurs, playing rested and at home, should win easily. Tim even said that he believed that the game is very important.
If the Spurs win by less than 5 as some posters here are suggesting, you should be worried.
If the Spurs lose, you have serious issues to address, such as marginal center play and an aging bench which has not been extremely productive.
I can't wait for tonight.
John
We already know we have serious issues to address. This game won't make much difference to that. If either team blows each other out, we still will have our same issues to address either way.
that being said. I will probably bet all my vbookie on this game for spurs. GO SPURS!!!
Spurs--101
Mavericks--97
The Spurs will be fine!! Geez--you guys seem to have forgotten that half the team had been recovering from the flu (and with Tim and Oberto not even missing a game). Hopefully, they're well and will kick some butt!! This should be a great game altho not looking forward to being around rude Mav fans.
Spurs---92
Heifers--86
Go Spurs Go. I got a hankerin' for some spankerin'.
The Spurs are due to put an ass whipping on the Mavs. Spurs 106 - Mavs 93.
we are goin to lose this game by 20pts
I hope your reverse jinxing works!
My money's on the Mavs. We've been sucking a nut lately.
Spurs win >10 differential = impressive victory
Spurs win 4-10 expected due to rest/home court advantage
Spurs win 1-4 concerning -- examine bench and center production
Mavs win 1-5 very concerning -- also look at Ginobilli vs. Howard/George/Stackhouse
Mavs win >5 = trouble in SA -- closely examine production from Ob/El/Gin/Fin
John
mavs should win because:
1. we are 7-0 on BTBs
2. look at our record, it's damn good and we are playing well
3. we have some fresh legs in stack
4. harris is playing VERY well
spurs should win because:
1. dirk is still dealing with his sinus infection and not playing well
2. we are on the second game of a btb and yesterday was a
3. we are in san antonio, those fans are going to be crazy like last time (at least up above they are)
4. spurs haven't lost 3 in a row since 04-05 and they will be extra motivated to get back on track by ending the mavs' win streak
who knows what will happen tonight, my heart goes with the mavs to win it but reason goes with the spurs...although i didn't think the mavs were going to win the last game because i thought they weren't all clicking yet when the spurs were, so...
Hey Ponky, great post -- I will take the opposite approach.
Mavs should lose because:
- second night of a tough back to back
- playing a rested Spurs team who is hungry after two losses
- offseason acquisitions, Croshere and Johnson, are playing poorly leaving less bench scoring production than last year
- Stack returning from energy with low stamina and a penchant for shooting even when his shot is off
- the excellent SA fan support -- hostile environment
Spurs should lose because:
- recent center acquisitions have been as poor or worse than last year
- bench appears old and tired -- consistently lower production than expected
- Ginobilli has been on a rollercoaster and may not be able to withstand the defensive rotation of Howard/George
- Devin Harris is one of only 2 or 3 guards in the NBA able to match the speed of Parker reducing his usual effect.
I concur that the Spurs should win.
Things to watch:
- if Devin is able to draw charges on Tony and match his intensity
- if Dampier/Diop can get a positive points/rebound diff vs. Ob/El
- if Howard will continue to play at All-Star level on the road
- if Horry/Fin will continue to have poor bench performances
John
The loss of Elson will hurt Spurs chances to beat Mavs, he was the player who matchup the best with Dirk.
Without him, it will be intersting to see what the Toronto guys can do against Dirk.
None of your horse reasons give any props to the Spurs. How's about 5. the Spurs aren't that bad of a team.
Asshole, your team is going down tonight
Mavs 93
Spurs 92
oooohhh Dirk's little sinus booboo is hurtin. poor baby.... pussy
I can guarentee one thing..
Harris and Ginobili will be flopping all over the place.
Let the bodies hit the floor.![]()
