That is why I voted for the man several years ago. PETA blows.

Nice.
"The Center for Consumer Freedom"![]()
I can understand their initial position, but these animals shouldn't be allowed to freeze to death, that's certainly a worse death then being slaughtered so if there is something they can do they certainly should...
Saving the poor little, freezing cows is not "animal rights/cattle-tarian" project.
It's a "Save the ranchers' inventory/profits" project.
It's a "Let's save the cows from dying for free so we can kill them for profit" project.
PETA's stance is perfectly consistent and defensible, as is the farmers'.
"these animals shouldn't be allowed to freeze to death"
Freezing to death, hypothermia, is not painful. In fact, humans who have been near to dying from hypothermia (yachtsmen saved from cold waters) say the feeling is quite euphoric and relaxed.
If they are at risk of freezing to death, why are they dropping hay bales?
Is the hay heated?
The hay drop is to prevent them from losing too much $$$weight.![]()
Umm...cows gotta eat to stay alive. My family owns 45 head of cattle and believe me, they gotta eat a LOT to stay alive. Daily. Several times daily. The cold isn't the problem here, it's that the ground (and coincidentally, the GRASS) is covered by snow so there is nothing for the cows to eat.
"cows gotta eat to stay alive."
um, cows, nor people, aren't gonna starve to death in a week or 10 days.
It takes about 5 - 6 weeks for a human on water to starve to death.
Boutons hates cows.
1369 s cows
You hate 1369 cows. What about the other ones?
Consistent, sure, since most poeople understand that their true agenda is not to protect animals but to eliminate the Beef industry. But it does sort of go against the "ETA" part of their name.PETA's stance is perfectly consistent and defensible, as is the farmers'.
"eliminate the Beef industry"
why would PETA want that?
I suppose PETA would be all for saving these animals if it really meant saving the animals definitively, but it really means saving the animals temporarily to kill them a few months later.
Most beef cattle are slaughtered at 12 - 14 months.
They could use the PR, frankly.
Of course, I've always had an alternative theory that PETA is run by the Beef Association to make vegetarians look like idiots. So in that case, I guess this would also be perfectly consistent with their objectives.
No, but if they don't eat regularly, they develop an upset stomach and then they DON'T eat and yes, they do starve.
Horses develop the same problem. It's called colic.
Boutons is dumb.
Don't they have like, 4 stomachs to fill?![]()
Boutons knows just enough to climb up on a soapbox and reveal his stupidity.
of course PETA wants to eliminate the beef industry.
They have stated unequivocably that thier goal is "total animal liberation".
I like where the article says PETA has "a stubborn anti-meat bias" like it's news.
