SA based, Valero walks away with full pockets thanks to the U.S. government's PR campaign against Hugo Chavez...

...He doesn't have his new street sign up yet, but his pumps are marked with the foreign-sounding name. And that's enough to make motorists come into the register and ask about it. They want to buy from an American company...

Shull said his long-time Citgo customers began drifting away last year when Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez started criticizing the Bush administration's foreign policy.

Citgo is owned by PDV America, a subsidiary of Venezuela's national oil company, Petroleos de Venezulea, S.A., and some motorists thought boycotting Shull would somehow send a message to Chavez.

..."Since we branded Valero, I have seen a 30 percent jump in sales," said Helou. "The first thing they say is 'We are back because our money is not going to Chavez.' "...
    Cleveland Plains Dealer

Nevermind that Chavez has contributed millions in cheap oil to the poor in the U.S., something that Valero has yet to do to ever do in any cir stance, any remember N.O. was out of gas? But I have gotten a free coffee or two and that all that matters.

Screw it, let Chavez sell his oil to the Chinese, Iranians, and Indians for Euros.

Why should Valero give free/discounted to anyone? Last time I checked companies were in business to make money and not support low income families.

Unlike Croutons, you can never really tell if Dan is serious or just stirring the pot.

How much of a PR campaign do you feel they really engaged in when Chavez is sitting out there saying he's rooting for Ahmadinijad, Castro, etc. and talking trash about this country?

I guess it was all part of Bush's vast conspiracy to send Cindy Sheehan down there to hang out with him for a while

I like Chavez, we needed him to remind us of what the Socialist are all about.
