Does anybody think that elson was pulled as to bring in the element of surprise vs. the mavs in the playoffs? The guy plays pretty well vs the small ball mavs run. Bonner though was obviously hurt

I think he was brought in because he would play for $3 mil a year (and not past '08).

Elson had a nice game that day, but you do realize that was during the stretch when the Mavs went 0-4, including a 31 point loss to Houston and a loss at home to GS?

yes I do know that; I also noticed how well of a job Elson did on Dirk, which will result in the spurs not having to play small ball: but again you mavs fans go and underestimate elson,

    Elson's defense still sucks.

Though just due to his size alone, he's better in there than Oberto.

No excuses, a win is a win even if its in the beginning of the season or at the end of the season.

    Your watching a different game.

Or haven't watched his games since hes come back.

His rotations tonight were once again pretty good.

Elson is great. He plays good one-on-one D, and his rotations are getting better. He is a far better rebounder than anyone thought, is quick as lightning, and has nice range to 18ft on his J. He has been a GREAT ADDITION. I love the guy. Now PLAY HIM MORE!!!

WTF is with us always going small ball to match our opponent??? Why don't we go big with Elson, who is quick and can crash the boards, and FORCE OUR OPPONENTS TO GO BIG WITH US!!!??? I don't get why we always play into our opponent's hands rather than forcing them to our game...

Whoa there bud, I'm not saying it shouldn't count as a Spurs win. It most certainly does.

I'm saying that judging Elson as some Dirk stopper or as a pivotal element in the inevitable Spurs-Mavs playoff matchup based on THAT particular game is ridiculous.

Good point. Personally, I think the 2005 WC series caused a personality conflict....Why aren't we enforcing our style of play? Well, I guess we must first find out what it is. It used to be defense. I think Pop tried to embodied a team which could adapt to any situation, any style of play? I think it would be best to focus on a specific system or style, than attempting to adapt to your oppenent's style of play. I'm not saying to avoid adjustments, the Spurs need to be adaptive, but only as a means to enforce their style of play.

If Oberto had a microcosim more athletic ability.

    Hed be a stud center.

Unfortunately he has the athleticism of a math club devotee.

The play that epitomized Oberto was the other night where Hunter was half a step away from him and he still tried to shoot the ball. It got blocked into the first row.

    Sad but true.

Although, he does seem to play well in "big games"

Hopefully thats foreshadowing for the playoffs.
