That said, why the would any Spurs fan jump off in January? Until they're eliminated, I'm rooting against everyone else! Even if they're kind of the underdog , or looking like one right now..

Then if that doesn't pan out, more or less, as a basketball fan in general (just like last year) root against the team that took out the Spurs!!!

If the Mavs can handle the 06 finals demons in this years playoffs, they have a great shot at winning it all. It sucks having to wait until the postseason to truly know if this team can overcome those demons from last year. Then again patience is a virtue!

I would rather have the Suns take it all then the Mavs. My fear is that the Spurs are going to bow out so early and have way too many issues in the offseason to address in time for a run next year. I am not giving up on the this year yet but this is getting awfully depressing.

Ya know? I'm afraid that'll happen this year too. Last year, after they won I REALLY TRIED to root for them but to no avail. I found myself happy when they lost, and just nodding my head when they won. I knew it was THE RIGHT THING to root for them. I just ultimately couldn't.

there are some extreme mavs/spurs fans on the board but i wonder how many spurs would root for the mavs if they move on just because they're a texas team? i know at least ten people that i talk to regularly who would do that and they follow both teams. i've only rooted for the spurs once when they played the lakers in the wc playoffs but normally i would probably never do such a thing.
