Sean Elliott doesn't believe the Suns are for real. With good reason: Lack of defense, 1-7 vs the top West teams. That leaves the Spurs and Mavs NBA Finals 2007.

unless you're on playstation and can trade the whole Spurs team to the East
sean elliot is a Spurs homer, what do you expect?
Thats like Scott Hastings saying the Nuggets are the best team in the West![]()
Funny thread.
I think a smart poster/commentator is just somebody that agrees with Jeff.
who are the top teams in the west(1-7)
mavs
suns
jazz
lakers
rockets
nuggets
spurs have wins against these teams
No, smart people are ones that don't have their heads up the butts of the Mavs and Suns all the time.
Yea, in the first two weeks of the season. Since then, the Jazz, Rockets, Mavs, Suns, and Lakers have beaten them (some of those teams have beaten the Spurs twice since the first 2 weeks of the season).
So smart = homer? Got it.
Y'all are totally missing what Elliott said. He said "the playoffs are very different from the regular season" and that he's not convinced the Suns are a real playoff team with their D'Antoni running style, and with the minutes the big 3 (Nash, Marion, Stoudamire) log to rack up all those meaningless regular-season wins.
I actually think he's right. The Suns have yet to show anything in the playoffs. Two years ago (with Amare) the Spurs beat them pretty handily, by running it back at them and exposing their lack of transition defense, and by stopping Nash and the three-point shooters at the expense of letting Amare go off. Last year (without Amare), they came this close to losing to the Lakers in the second round, and were again beat pretty handily by the Mavs. This year, presumably, they'll have the Nash/Amare combination back again, and presumably they will have to beat both the Mavs and the Spurs to make it to the finals (assuming the Mavs and Suns have the top 2 seeds, and the Spurs finish with #3, which is what it looks like now). I don't see this happening. I think they face either a 2nd or 3rd round exit, again, even if Nash is healthy. If Nash is hurt, they'll probably go out in the 1st round, frankly. They have no game without him.
Suns have no depth. It hurt them in the WCF and it will hurt them again this year.
Sean Elliott (Elliot?) is so bad. Every FSN broadcast team has a degree of homerism cause they're all local broadcasts but he simply takes the cake.
Ok, let's all trust the word of the worst color guy in the business. If he were on the Grizz broadcast he would be saying Pau was taking them to the Finals.
"Gravy!" -Sean Elliott
Elliott did not say the Spurs are the best team in the league. He said the Suns aren't a contender for the championship. Needless to say, neither is a team who loses in 6 games to an Eastern Conference team on the biggest stage of all.
