They need a running back and some o-linemen more than anything. Although I will admit that at times last year Carr looked like the worst qb I have ever seen.
David Carr will be traded, and Jake Plummer will be the Texans quarterback next season. Plummer will compete with Sage Rosenfels and a rookie Gary Kubiak wants to develop. ~ Houston Cronicle
The next region of upgrade exploration is the trade market. According to league insiders, David Carr — who was the draft's first overall pick after he finished playing for Fresno State — will be available. Unfortunately, Carr was selected by the pass-block-deficient Houston Texans and has spent more time on his back than Dracula. Nobody truly knows if Carr should play or be parked. Denver is eager to get rid of Jake Plummer, a talented-but-shaky veteran who at least understands what it's like to be despised in a football-mad city. ~ SI.com
QB David Carr (2002) might be out of time in Houston. Texans owner Bob McNair has been one of his staunchest supporters through the team's expansion phase but told the Houston Chronicle on Wednesday: "We've got to get better consistency there, either with David or with some additional help. We need more consistency at quarterback." Consistency isn't a hallmark of Jake Plummer, who is about to be cast off in Denver. Plummer was associated with Texans coach Gary Kubiak for three seasons with the Broncos, so don't be surprised if the two are reunited next month. ~ St Louis Post-Dispatch
One player who could get some free-agent balls rolling is Denver's Jake Plummer, whom the Bears pursued in 2003. He looked like a lock to sign with the Broncos but thought enough of the Bears to make a trip to Lake Forest. When the Bears didn't land him, they signed Kordell Stewart. Plummer has been supplanted in Denver by Jay Cutler. If Plummer is released, the Houston Texans are expected to bid for him. Texans coach Gary Kubiak was the offensive coordinator in Denver when Plummer signed there. That could lead Houston to put former No. 1 pick David Carr on the market. Carr signed a three-year extension with the Texans last year, but owner Bob McNair refused to commit to Carr this week when speaking with reporters. Carr never has had the support of a strong offensive line and has been sacked more than any quarterback since entering the league in 2002. He was Bernard Berrian's quarterback at Fresno State. ~ Chicago Sun-Times
The Houston Chronicle believes Texans owner Bob McNair's lack of public support for David Carr means the quarterback is likely to get dealt.
The Texans paid Carr a $8 million option only a year ago, but he seems unlikely to return to Houston. They team said they can live with a cap hit. Jake Plummer remains the most likely veteran to be brought in. In that scenario, Plummer would compete with Sage Rosenfels while Gary Kubiak developed a rookie. ~ Rotoworld
Per the Chronicle Texans Owner, Bob McNair, stopped just short of pushing quarterback David Carr under the bus saying, "We’ve got to get better consistency at quarterback." ~ Houstonist
I can't see the Texans sticking with David Carr for another season. Don't be shocked if the former top pick overall is traded to Cleveland or Jacksonville for a third- or fourth-round pick in this year's draft. If Houston can dump Carr, Quinn will be tough to pass up at No. 8. ~ Fox Sports

he led the leauge ina something so their real problem is the o line and no
rb
Boy did they pick the wrong year to make that move
Clearly you've never watched Jake Plummer play quarterback.
I like the Texans, but frankly, I can't wait to see fan reaction when they see Jake flushed out of the pocket and trying to make something happen by throwing it left handed to the defense.
Should be good stuff.
you voted against Dirty Harry.
I had to, I've never seen it.
I'm pretty sure I'm the last 27 year old male in America that hasn't seen that movie.
...i am not going to give you a hard time, but thats the most ridiculous statement you have ever made.![]()
check out the clips on youtube.
Nope. There's at least two of us.
how can you vote against a movie you have never seen?
It's too far ahead. And I'm spreading around my downvotes because there's no movie on the list that I don't think belongs.
how can it be too far ahead, when you haven't seen it? thats idiotic. rent it.
What I meant was it would have been nice for them to have decided not to keep David Carr a year ago when they had the first pick in the draft, rather than now when Jake Plummer seems like an attractive alternative. The fans that have been ting on Carr are indeed going to be surprised when nobody is going to flourish in that system with that talent.
it will be intesting to see what kind of talent they get in return for a QB who has big talent but struggled with a bad team. they better make sure not to get lowballed and have a QB waiting in the draft for them.
i think it would be smart to have plummer or bledsoe starting so your top round QB can develop. assuming they draft a QB. They should have gotten VY or Leinart or at least bush last year. a big part of their decline has been their front office.
They will get lowballed and settle for . That's seems to be the way of the Texans.
The Texans only made half the moves they should have last summer. Carr should have been out the door right after that bum Casserly. They should have done what N.O. did: buy the vet QB and draft Bush. What a waste-oid organization...
houston has to be the stupidest franchise i have seen in a while
Whooooaaaaa, easy there. You seem to have forgotten about the Lions.
hmmmmm you make a good point
3rd or 4th Round? That would be a steal for the Texans.
The guy is 5th-6th round material...
So last year they had a shot at Bush or VY. This year they may have a shot at Adrian Peterson, but they seem likely to pass because Domanick Davi...er, Williams is coming back.
