I like the job Jeff Van Gundy has done with the Rockets. At various times he's had either T-Mac or Yao out with injuries and they are still over .500 at 31-17.

In fact, since Yao went out they are 15-7. Who'd a thunk it? They may be really tough by the time playoffs roll around if Yao and T-Mac are healthy.

^Actually, I wouldn't throw him out of the equation. The team up in Boston is super young and they are missing Paul Pierce's leadership. Expect the Celtics to make a push in a few years, after all the players have some experience under their belts

    I'd probably go with:

    Jerry Sloan
    Phil Jackson
    or
    Jeff Van Gundy

Jerry Sloan will win it I am sure.

    Phildo Jackson.

He gets Kobme Bryant to play team ball. That alone is worth COY.
Has Kwame Brown playing better then he ever has. Bynum looking good.

He defers the offense to much smarter O coordinator Tex Winters, something Popascrub is too proud to even consider.

    what about avery?
what about him? has his team gone through any serious injuries? was it unexpected of him to have a talented team close to the top?

Sloan - never thought the Jazz would do so well so far.

    If anything,

Avery should be fired if he wasn't able to get the Mavs anywhere. You guys have a deep talented roster and the luck of not being injured.

HAHA...yeah ok. Avery is the man...the Spurs and Rockets wish he was their coach instead of crater face and bug eyes

If Avery was the Rockets coach, Rockets will be under .500

Avery and the Mavs meltdown vs Miami renders you nothing more then spouting trolls.

Come back after he has a le. Not before.

Sloan has done wonders with what he has. He'll probably be the sentimental choice if they continue to do well. But he hasn't faced the loss of his two stars to injury in quite the way Van Gundy has.

Mitc . Everyone said he was going to be fired, and now he is a head of his division.

Yeah, he has better players, but results are a bid unexpected by the public. (Since American sports public is a bit dumm, I dispose of the Smitch's nomination and wait for the final rewards.)

Avery is a good coach, but CotY is usually given to suprises, like last year for example, when everyone was suprised the Mavs would do as well as they did.

Come to think of it, that means Isaiah won't be up for GM of the Year this year. I know he'd get the vote of most of the opposing coaches and GMs.
