Would like to know if any one here owns, works, or is associated with the reaturant business. How has the smoking ordinace affected the flow of customers.
Went into Jims this morning at Marbach and 410 and I was thrown for a loop. Here is a place that has either chosen not to adhere to the ordiance or just lazy.
When we sat down, the smoke just kinda creeped up on you. Not an overpowering smell at first but it gets stronger the longer you sit. By the time we left ( bout 25 min ) everyting we were wearing smelled of smoke. I thought the ordinace was to clean all this up. I knew the Jims in Balcones Heights was fighting the ban because they were not in San Antonio.... anyone fill in the details.......THANKS

i do, it's disgusting to smell a cigarette when you are eating, and reprehensible in a family restaurant when there are children around. austin's restaurants have been smoke free for a while now, and i'm still amazed when i go to cities that still have smoking sections.

If they take the smoky smell out of Jim's, I'll quit eating there.

they had this for the last 2 years here down under, it doesnt stop businesses makin money, if you wanan smoke you either go outside or dont bother at all.

but certain places allow you to smoke cose they dont give a , it feels good to actually to go into a club and see the place not filled with smoke, and they actually have smokin rooms.

since the smokin ban, alot of ppl have change their habits, not many ppl smoke inside ppls houses thats the trend i see now, that ppl actually go outside to smoke, its all about respect and ....smokin aint cool.

San Antonio allows for a smoking section and a non-smoking section in it's restaurants. Austin bans smoking in restaurants entirely. Jim's just seems to have more smokers congregating there.
