I'm thinking of using TurboTax this year but I'd like to hear some opinions from anyone who has used it. Is it as good as or better than anything else out there, or is there a better alternative?

diddo.
https://www.taxactonline.com
I've used it 3 years in a row and no trouble!
I've used TurboTax for over 10 years, except for one year when I used TaxCut because Intuit had this crazy registration program that installed spyware on your computer.
I use Quicken to track my finances during the year, and it has relatively seemless exporting to TurboTax, so really there's no better program for me. If I didn't use Quicken, I'd still be happy with it, though.
I've used H&R Block's $9.95 online with no probs.
Very easy to use and navigate.
Excellent help.
Got my refund last wk for a total wait of 8 days.
Use TurboTax...it's free...unless you've got some crazy stuff you need to file...it works great...
I'm planning on use Turbo Tax for my taxes. I've used it several years in a row (my entire family and Jess used it last year because of me) and its been great. This year my taxes will be more complicated, but I'm still going to use it.
Great suggestions... thanks! What attracted me to TurboTax is the help in finding extra deductions and the mention of audit help (or something like that). I'll check out some of the others mentioned as well and go from there.
I used some online but I don't make crap for money so it was free.
Most banks offer a discount price for TurboTax online version. I just did my taxes with it and only cost me $22.45 for the Deluxe version, which costs $33 at walmart. The best part is no installing it on your puter.
from what i understand you can get between 250 and 500 extra for the cost of the software...but im waaaaay to friggin lazy.
You should NOT be paying for Turbo Tax unless you have some odd situations...every day average joes can eFile with Turbo Tax for free...
I did my taxes on Turbo Tax for several years. I never got a refund, I always had to pay additional money. Then I went to my friend's dad's accountant, now I get $$ back every year.
I've used TurboTax for many years other than the year it was filled with Spyware. I use the Premier version because my wife owns a rental property and it's been a huge help with that. If you buy it at a place like Costco you can usually get a good deal on it.
That's actually good then...you're not supposed to get a HUGE return back every year...they say you should actually owe around $400...
.
TurboTax isn't going to automatically find tax savings for you like an accountant would.
If you do the extra work to have your finances categorized in a program like Quicken, however, and use the Premier version, you probably are going to do about as well as a tax specialist would.
Been using TurboTax online for the past 6 years.
No problems to report, other than I get pissed now when I get a big refund...I hate loaning the government money for free.
I'm claiming married with 2 dependents and I still get over $2,000 back.
Well...I've always found that going "professional" is the way to go. They're far more gentle and set your expectations far better. The fact is that it hurts less. Oh...wait, I thought this thread read "TURBOWAX"...damn, sorry.
I use Turbotax. Works for me.
I use whatever I get for free....last year Turbo Tax and this year Tax Cut by H&R Block. Honestly, I like Turbo Tax better...but then again I'm married to an accountant and my father is a CPA so I didn't have any use for Tax Cut's "talk to our professionals" thing.
I have used Turbo Tax for years!!
It's great
I think we always used Turbo Tax until last year when our taxes got a little more complicated. Now we use a CPA.
Tax software sucks. It is the worst idea to use it. i was using it for years and always ended up receiving refunds below $1,000 until I went to a hispanic tax advisor, they hooked me up. I am now getting $6,000+ refunds. Suggestion, get a mexican tax advisor that will hook u up.![]()
Dude, you're going to jail if they ever audit you
