He has been playing real well for us and has just jump started the whole team. It feels like 2004 when we picked up Sheed.
But the "genius" Pop was right to think a big man that can score, rebound, and is the best passing big man in the NBA, and would have a DIRT cheap contract, would be a bad fit for the Spurs system.
Pop should be kissing Duncan's feet everyday for getting him into the HOF and putting 3 le rings on Pop's fingers

was getting webber a possibility for the spurs?
Webber would have been a perfect fit for the Spurs and was exactly what the Spurs needed
Pistons brass had brains unlike the Spurs brass and they made the move.
i'm glad to see the pistons playing well again, they have been my pick to come out of the east since the start of the season and i have a large bet riding on it
I've always liked Webber so I'm pleased to hear he's doing well. Pop is like a jilted lover with Webber since Chris stuck him in 2002 at which time Pop was ready to give the Admiral the heave ho to get him.
yes, and was one of the top choices for Webber, but Pop absolutely DID NOT want him and made that clear to the press many times. Pop did not like him personally so he didn't make the move
one of the dumbest things in Spurs history and a trade isn't made by the 22nd, and with Pop stupid enough to think this roster has a chance I guess that it will stand
As cathartic as it is to crap on Pop, there was zero chance at Webber.
you can tell yourself that if it helps you sleep at night![]()
there were many reports that the Spurs were one of his TOP choices and porb his best chance at getting a le
The Spurs are over the lux-tax threshold. There was no way Pop had the green light to add payroll. Winning is not the priority this year.

the anything other then a le is deemed a failure for the Spurs, especially when Duncan/Paker/Manu are all in their prime, and they have very recently won 2 les
Reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.
He's still a lot slower than he used to be, but the zone and his IQ helps with his defensive deficiencies.
At any rate, Webber has since said that the only two teams he really wanted to play for were Detroit and the Lakers. Of course his agent is going to let it be known he wants to play for as many teams as possible in case the teams Webber really wanted to play for didn't feel the same way. Got to keep your options open JUST IN CASE.
I read many reports that said Webber SHOULD consider the Spurs as his best option, as he'd fit in well and have a great opportunity to get a ring. But I heard nothing from the Webber side of the discussion saying the Spurs were on his radar other than he wanted to go to a team that had a chance.
Pop likes him personally a lot. He wanted him here a few years ago. They just didn't want him this year.
Spurs need a big man that can block shots and play good D. He does neither.
That's correct.
But Pop did also say they had no interest in Webber this season.
well, even if the spurs got him, there's no guarantee that he'd be contributing just as much as he does with the pistons now. he's very happy to be playing for his hometown, rasheed is very happy playing alongside him and i think playing east coast teams more often can help them climb the ladder a bit easier
And it's not correct.
Probably because he can rebound and contribute.
lol, i changed it...just going by the other poster's comments, i assumed he knew what he was talking about![]()
I've heard otherwise, including the contrary on NBATV by Peter Vescey and the other guys on NBATV Game night
![]()
Yeah Peter Vescey wrote an article talking about it. That's what you heard them talking about on NBATV. But it was a load of crap.
Pop actually has a good relationship with Webber and was willing to trade David Robinson to get him.
Peter Vescey is ALWAYS accurate ...![]()
but he had absolutely NO interest to get him this year while he still putting up very nice numbers and would play for min $$$?
how much sense would that make if there wasn't a personal reason?
he broke the AI/Nuggets trade and has been braking trade stories before you were born

Why did this have to get posted! I was over my Webber wet dream and now this statline is brought up to piss me off that Cuban (
) didnt land this er!
