The Spurs need James Posey on that wall. San Antonio is still smart and tough and willing, but the Spurs need someone who can move if they're going to have any chance at beating Dallas and Phoenix in the playoffs. They need someone who can step out and guard Dirk Nowitzki or Shawn Marion. Posey is precisely that kind of all-around guy.

A Brent Barry-Beno Udrih offer would give Miami both three-point firepower and guard depth to bolster the injured Jason Williams and the fading Gary Payton.

You'd rather keep Barry and Beno than get James Posey on a rental?

Well, the Heat would probably never do it anyway. Beno is the exact opposite of a Riley-type player.

Since when has anyone had to step out and actually guard Shawn Marion? Creating his own offense is not his game. And Posey couldn't do a damn thing against Dirk.

Posey wasn't really the best guy who stepped out to guard Dirk Nowitzki. Although James did defend Dirk, Udonis did the best, and most consistent job of defending Dirk...particularly in the last 4 wins of the Finals.

Beno is better than no pg at all..I am still not comfertable with jaque running back up point!!Look, we are going to have to win 1 maybe 2 series before even playing Dallas so forget any Dork stoppers (which is stupid reason for trading for player)

That is exactly what I was thinking. All you have to do is keep Marion off the offensive boards and not let him have wide open 3 pt shots and you don't have to worry about him that much. He disappeared in the Mav/Suns playoff series last year cuz the Mavs did both those things. Marion excels in wide open type games (like the Suns play in the regular season) but struggles somewhat in tight playoff games where it's mostly a halfcourt offensive game.

And that quote of his to the effect that the reason he takes so many 3 point shots is because there isn't a 4 point shot

I know it's not a sure thing, or even a probable thing, but we discuss at length about trades which would never happen. So why not one that might happen, and has been reported by credible sports sites?

I know it's in the 'reasonable trades' thread but still. Normally with something like this you scroll down the forums and you have more than a few different opinions / threads on the idea of the player coming here.

Our best asset to get Posey would have been Williams.

Posey is a s of his former self...Barry will be more valuable to us in the playoffs than Posey would be.
