I can't imagine they would suit him up in his first game but perhaps with them trying to get him in to game shape perhaps letting him get 5-10 miinutes would not be a bad idea.

It's to make it apparently clear that this kid likely won't be seeing much court time unless a guy like Oberto or Bonner are shipped out in the next 48hrs (46 now...). Ely has work to do and only 30 games to do it in, so unless the opportunity presents itself via trade or injury, I don't see Pop (who is quite stubborn with his rotation, etc.) going away from Franberto any time soon.
